Hey Everyone,

Ok, so I'm a current Eris owner (rooted, only way to go)... Anyways, I'm due for an upgrade and trying to decide on a new phone to get this week, especially with Black Friday and everything... I've narrowed my decision down to this and the Droid 2.

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of their Fascinate... Biggest concerns are:
-Bing (really... why not let us choose?)
-the virtual Keyboard. I HATE the Eris's virtual keyboard... so cramped and not very accurate, even when I recalibrate it.

Just wanted some feedback and help with my decision! I appreciate it!

The biggest issue with Fascinate is GPS, but after trying out the latest leak (DJ05) this phone works Great! I have never a big fan of the Droid or Droid 2, i just don't like the way the screen feels, too "plasticy"? Anyway i think the Fascinate is a better way to go, especially since Rooting and de-binging is a fairly easy process.

I upgraded from the Eris to the Fascinate.

Hate Bing, so I rooted and De-Binged. I love the Keyboard... built in Swype is awesome. I'm really liking the phone. Keep in mind that I've rooted and removed most of the touchwiz stuff, but the hardware is great.

I'm in the same boat as OP trying to decide which one to get soon. Both is great phone with different pros/cons. SF seems to be better for rooting and D2 is probably better phone right out of the box. I'm leaning to D2 right now as SF seems to suffer some email sync, texting issues while D2 seems to be excellent for emails. Can anyone convince me that emails in SF work just as well as other android phones?

Now, I'm just using gmail so I can't speak for exchange or any other type of account, but I've never had any issues with mail or text on the Fascinate.

I can confirm with the latest update fix (DJ05) I no longer have any issues with email sync, just posted in another section about this. I currently have a POP3, Exchange and of course gmail and I have no issues anymore. My pop3 is syncing every 5 minutes and exchange every hour and gmail as soon as they arrive, so far its been great.

Please note, if you are not running the latest update DJ05, you may experience POP3 and/or exchange syncing issues, which is what i was suffering from pre-DJ05.

Root it, de-Bing, and install the Samsung keyboard or use Swype.

I love mine, though GPS is borked (new leak may fix that, but I haven't tried it). Amazing screen.

Other alternative: wait for the next generation of phones. Dual core and all that.

Is there anyway to get that keyboard without root? I have been to busy with work recently to take some time and set my phone up the way I truly want it. I will have time around Christmas, figured 2.2 would be out by then.

I like the Samsung keyboard, but i find these three issues make it unusable

1) No haptic feedback
2) Having XT9 activated, is really annoying when typing, the bottom portion of the text keeps on moving up and down when it attempts to guess the word. Default keyboard has the entire field available even when you hit the space.
3) No MIC button??
