Pin locations with Google Maps?

Is this feature missing on the Android platform of Google Maps ? I remember when using Google Maps on the iPhone, all you had to do was tap the location you were looking at and it would give you the option to pin the location for future use.

How is it that there's no option (or at least obvious way) to do this with the Android OS ? Or is it just the EVO? I've looked at layers, more layers etc. and no option to pin. Am I missing something, or is it just this ridiculous ?

Tap and hold on a location, release after it shows "loading address", then tap the pop-up and tap the star on the top right of the details screen.

Never mind my rant. It's not as intuitive as the iPhone version for some reason, where you can simply pin where you are, rather than having to go to view the address and star it, but not a catastrophe either, I guess.

Sorry for the melodrama.

* bump *

I know this thread is old but i looked everywhere on web and couldn't find a solution. I own a Huawei U8800 Ideos X5 and i want to pin some locations on Google Maps where i can rename them so i can easily remember, without having to use the lame star the nearest location method. Any way to do that ?
