Google Reader Official App Released

I've always had trouble with the mobile version of the web interface, where it thinks I touched higer or lower on the screen than I actually did, or the highlight boxes from touching not lining up with the items displayed on the screen. This app seems to work much better in this regard.

I already miss the on-screen link for "mark all as read", since it's rare that I read every article in a feed. But it's only the first release, so I'm optimistic regarding its evolution.

Loved:
- The volume buttons to scroll through content.

Hated:
- Doesn't refresh when you open the app.
- No widget
- No where does it display an unread count. Not one outside the app, not one while in the app unless you go back out to the main menu.
- Loading takes a bit too long

Yes, I understand that this was a first release but this is Google! They have the manpower and they have had plenty of time! What would be best is if they copied the layout of their webapp. I love how in the webapp, even if you click on an article, it just expands it while not leaving the entire list of items you have. Now if you could use the volume keys to expand these items, it would be perfect.

I'll be sticking with the webapp until the next release.

I posted in the news thread, but:

no inline browsing/mobilizer support.

big fail for me, I use greader currently. It is pretty speedy though. If I had a faster phone I'd probably just use reader mobile since its the most full featured.
I'm sticking with FeedR for this exact reason, no mobilizer support. Totally underwhelmed with the Google Reader.

Interesting. I went into my app drawer to delete it, and it seems to have disappeared. What's up with that? I hadn't deleted it yet.....

Sticking with newsrob. I like the swipe to mark as read in newsrob. Takes too long to long press/mark read in google reader. Also, no support for expanded articles in google reader. For example, lifehacker feeds usually say click here to read more. In newsrob, clicking here loads more of the page in newsrob. In google reader, it opens by browser. Don't like that.

What's "mobilizer support"?
