Root Should I get a replacement device?

I came from the Incredible that I loved except for the reception and battery life. The X has both of those covered but just doesn't have the peppy operation that the Incredible had.

I use the camera alot and the slow opening and the problem were the button to go to the photo storage doesn't go to the most current picture has really gotten on my nerves. This was a problem with the factory ROM and the one I'm using now. It also just doesn't move from screen to screen as fast.

I run LPP and it seems no one else has any problems with it. My other apps are common so I don't think they would be the problem.

Is anyone's X flawless? Everyday mine does something that I would call a software bug but since no one else is complaining do you think I may just have a bad device?

The phone actually runs better with the new ROM.

My friend reminded me during break the other day that I put the ROM on it to see if it helped with the small issues.

I'm trying to do the right thing which is why I don't want to return the phone if the new one will be no different. I've used smartphones since the Treo 650 and this is the first time my new phone wasn't as fast as the one it replaced.

I will say that the reception and battery life is phenomenal.

New Rom? Apex 1.0 or newer Apex?

I had my first battery FC with Blurry tonight, then realized it was from restoring a backup w/o clearing battery stats. Now seems ok.

I've run LauncherPro Plus since day one and later overclocked it to 1.25 mhz with ULV (ultra low voltage), which improved battery life about 20%. I can't complain about speed on my phone.

I totally feel your pain. I love my Droid X and have had it for several months now. I have run both launcher pro and ADW. The one thing that drives me crazy is how laggy the phone is. It constantly lags when switching screens and launching apps. I haven't flashed any ROMS so i'm stock from that perspective. It was laggy from day one so I know it's a "stock" issue. My wife has a droid 2 and it is sooo much more responsive than my X.

Are you using wifi? One thing I've noticed is that if I am on wifi, LP and the my phone in general will lag. It's pretty smooth on 3g.

It's worse when the wifi signal is weak.

Thanks fpwind, That's what I'm looking for. I know that immediately after getting the X I noticed how it was just simply not as responsive as the Dinc that I had. I will say that it isn't a deal killer but I would hate to know that I lived with it for a year if the fix is either another ROM or another phone.

I bet it boils down to the fact that everyone uses their phone differently and expects different things from it.

Thanks Btros - I think I will put the Rubix ROM on it and see how that goes. That was the one I started to try from the beginning but chose the Apex at the last minute. I tell you that this is a disease. Back in the Windows Mobile days with the XV-6800 I was putting a new ROM on it everyweek for what seemed to be a year. Back then you could only run 4 apps at once. Phones have come a long way.

Yes, It connects to Wifi immediately when I get home. It seems to be the same at work where I use 3G but I'll disable the Wifi and see if I notice a difference. Thanks

I use mine on wifi at home and 3g everywhere else. I haven't noticed a difference between the two. It seems to lag equally. I initially tried advanced task killer to see if that would help. It didn't. All it did was cause issues with my corporate e-mail delivery and LP. I uninstalled it after a week. I'm very interested in any ROM's that will unlock the true potential of the phone. As I said before my wife's Droid 2 absolutely blazes!
