Help Bluetooth connectivity in car

About half the time my phone does not automatically connect as my Prius carphone. I check my Optimus bluetooth settings and the "Discoverable" block is unchecked. I check the box again and the phone then links ok. Is there any way to keep the phone discoverable? I don't have any app killer software....not sure what is randomly unchecking the "Discoverable" button.

I have the same problem using my Optimus S in my Mobridge equipped car. Still no joy after extensive troubleshooting. Mobridge insists the problem lies with the phone and I'm inclined to agree since I never had this problem with my Blackberry Curve. I'm tempted to root the phone and run one of the Bluetooth Fix apps but haven't mustered the courage yet.

problem might be how BT is done by both car and phones, not necessarily android.

My Optimus connected automatically every single time to the rented Cruze I had last week. That was even after the car was on and radio working.
On my car it connects most of the time if I turn BT on before the car, but not if I turn BT after the car is on. Same thing happens with my old Samsung Eternity.

I just created a shortcut to the BT settings on the desktop. That way I can just click and pair if it fails.

The "Discoverable" option should only be needed with the initial pairing, mine is always off.
My car is a 2010 Audi A4 with the factory bluetooth. I've had this phone since January and it connects to the car and functions fine 99% of the time. Before that I had a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone and it worked fine as well.

I have the same problems with connectivity, but wanted to add another to see if it is common. My LG will not automatically connect with my Camry bluetooth. I manually connect it. But even when connected (and speaking over the phone works fine), I cannot use/listen to voicemails over the bluetooth connection.

Anybody else with this problem?
LG = lowgrade.
