I have searched here there and everywhere for an answer to this with no luck. Hopefully someone here can shed some light...

In short, how do you create and save a map on Google My Maps and then get it into navigation on the droid?

I have created and saved a map on My Maps (on-line.) I started Maps on the phone and successfully loaded the map from the web. The map shows up on the phone, but when I try and go to navigation I have to enter start and end points. Is there a way to get the My Maps map to transfer straight to Navigation?

I am probably missing something obvious, but with my limited mental capabilities, I'm used to it.

Any help is already appreciated,

unless i misunderstand,

I use by:
1. create and save in my maps
2. open maps<layers<more layers<my maps, you should see the maps you have created.
3. pick the map you want
4. click the little notepad icon in the bottom left of the map and you should see options. to *where, directions to *where (this is from current position), from *there.
5. click on the option you want then navigate.

nevermind, this is an old post

In short, you can't have Google Maps Nav follow your custom route. I generally create the map, load the layer on my device and just follow along on the 2D (non-nav) map if I need to follow a custom route.

You can break your route down into multiple destinations, as suggested above, if you need turn-by-turn and voice prompts.

That app doesn't work at all for me. It seems others have the same issue. Maybe I should keep it on the phone and hope for updates that will enable it to work.

**On a side note "BestRoute Free" just made my life a ton easier.
Put in a bunch of points, and it reorganizes the order so your trip is the most efficient. You can set how many minutes you will be at each point and it will add that to travel time and give you your round trip time.
It works directly with Google Nav. Just used it today and it's awesome

Lol simone is swype's interpretation of the word someone...and a result of my lack of proofreading.

Btw, thanks for mentioning that app, I will try it out this weekend.

I guarantee you will be impressed with the app. I can't believe I just found it now. The app needs a little interface work, it can be tricky to learn what to do, and in what order sometimes, but the optimization is worth it for sure. Saves me alot of travel time for errands in Chicago.

You, lack of proofreading? Noooooo... ;)

PS - don't feel bad about the auto-fill on swype. HTC ime keyboard likes to say "Um" instead of "I'm" every time. Amazing how that alone changes the dynamic of my sentences from proper to stoner.
