Droid 2 Global ear-speaker has no sound

We are new to the Droid community. We purchased two Droid 2 Global phones in Early November. Because of a quirky bug, I took them to verizon and they replaced both of them only to see that immediately this morning we experience the same issue with one of the replacement devices.

Issue: When making an incoming/outgoing call the Ear Speaker has no or unaudible volume. This is true when on speaker or not. All other sounds seem to work just fine. The only way i have found to correct this is to shut down and take out battery for a moment, but this is not an acceptable long-term solution. Verizon and Motorola seem to have no awareness of this issue yet it has happened to three brand new devices. Verizon confirmed that we didn't seem to be doing anything wrong. I found tons of stuff with poor speaker quality on the internet but not much in our situation.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response. Reboot does not seem to solve the problem. Have to take it out of the case and them remove the battery. I was hoping there was a fix out there somewhere. it never fails - seems to always happen on the important calls. If it were my phone, that type of fix would be fine, but these are phones used by some folks on our senior leadership team. I need them to be confident in the technology they are using. Thanks.

Hi there, this sounds quite frustrating, in the time I had tested a droid 2 (approximately 2 weeks) I did not have this problem, and I'm on the phone about 2-3 hours per day. Can this be easily replicated, or is it a random occurrence? If it can be easily replicated, I would waltz into a verizon store, show them and have them replace them until you can get a working device that does not have this issue. Even if it can't be replicated, this is unacceptable and still needs to be addressed by both Verizon and Motorola. Verizon generally has good customer support, so if you explain the frustration and the inconvenience of the fix, perhaps they'll continue to work with you until you get droid 2 globals that do not have this issue.

I had this problem too when I first activated my Droid Global 2, and I did what wochurch said, taking out the batter, and now the ear piece works. I was wondering why the speaker on the back was the only one with sound, and the speaker didn't work. I hope they patch this soon so it wont reoccur and so other customers won't have the same trouble I did.

I am having the same issue. this just happened, as phone has been working well for months. can someone help?

Welcome to Android Forums!

If this is for the same phone, you'll want to go to the Droid 2 Forums and see if there is any resolution to the issue there. Android issues tend to be very specific to the make and model phone. If it is a different model and you have difficulty locating the appropriate forum, just let us know what you've got and we'll point you in the right direction.
