Hey Folks, random, OCDish question I'd appreciate anybody's input on:
I'm perfectly happy with the functionality of my Eris. I'm among those who's not having lagging issues or force closing issues or battery issues or anything like that, and I'm incredibly grateful for that. I'm still adjusting to Android's little quirks, but overall, I'm very pleased, and am planning to be an Android user for the long haul.
However, I have a little issue with the physical structure of the phone. The battery door "clicks" whenever I'm holding the phone with one hand and pushing the physical buttons with my thumb. One of the little locking clips on the battery cover (on the bottom right hand corner) is just a tad loose. The battery cover doesn't fall off or anything, and as far as I can tell, this isn't affecting a damn thing other than my own obsessive brain. (Perhaps coincidentally, on that same side of the phone, the silver trim is a bit more recessed than on the other side, but that's really neither here nor there.)
In fact, I've been able to more or less solve the "clicking" problem by applying a tiny (less than a half-centimeter square) piece of masking tape to that area, under the battery door, where the battery cover clips to... basically a little shim that gives that clip a little more of a ledge to rest on. I applied that yesterday, and it seems to have resolved the issue completely.
I'm planning on getting a case for the phone anyway, but my question to you guys is: is it even remotely worth it to take it back to Verizon (I have like a day or two left on my 30-day replacement period)? I'm coming from an iPhone, and for all its quirks, that thing was physically solid as a rock--I don't like anything on my phone moving that shouldn't be, especially when the phone's less than a month old.
My worry, however, is that I'll turn it in and be given a phone that has any of the several issues you guys have talked about... I'd rather have a phone that needs a tiny piece of unseen tape inside the battery door than have a phone that's lagging like crazy or constantly crashing or something.
I'm pretty much planning on just going with my little masking-tape-shim fix and then getting some sort of hard case for the phone (and just forgetting this whole thing ever happened). However, I thought I'd see what you good people had to say about this ridiculously neurotic issue.
