Question regarding downloading applications!

Will downloading lots of applications make the HTC slower? Also, do i need to get an application killer program when if i want to FULLY remove the application or will dumping in trash be enough? Thanks!

Short answers? No and No. Sort of.

Longer answers:

1) Downloading lots of apps won't make it run slower unless those apps are actually running and consuming resources. You can use a Task Manager to see if any of those apps are running, and kill running Apps to free up resources. Many (but not all) Apps keep running when you use the "back" button and are no longer being displayed on the screen; a task manager will help you discover that.

Also, you should be aware that there are limits to the amount of Flash memory used to store Apps, and your device will definitely misbehave if that gets full.

2) I think you might be confusing deleting widgets from the Sense UI home screen(s) with deleting apps - the former definitely does not have anything to do with removing the apps, nor do Task Managers that also have some App management functions have any more capabilities than the HTC "Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications" does.

I should add one more comment-

Neither Verizon nor Google guarantee the behavior or safety of any App in the Android Market.

One of the strengths and weaknesses of the Android system is that everything can be customized - and that if you install and uninstall apps willy-nilly, just for the purpose of trying new things, eventually you will come across one which is poorly written, and effects something else that can only be restored to "the way I like it" by doing a factory reset of the phone.

Go ahead and browse the Market for Apps, and by all means try stuff that you think "Yeah, I'll probably use that for more than one day." Just bear in mind that the more stuff you try, the more likely that a factory reset will be in your future.

thank you for your very thorough response. how do i delete an application i installed then fully? also, what exactly does the application manager allow me to do?

Market -> My Downloads -> (long press on selected) Application -> Uninstall

So far as I know, there's no such thing as a "partial uninstall", although it may be true that a removed application can leave data files lying around on your SD card.

Sorry, my bad about the other link (Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications) ; it includes all applications, including system-installed apps; but for downloaded apps that you installed, there should be an "Uninstall" button in the details for those apps available by navigating this way.
