headphone jack cover?

Anyone know of any place to buy a headphone jack cover (dummy plug) for the Sprint HTC Hero?

I've found some plugs for the iPhone online, but i wasnt sure if they would fit into the Hero very well, they don't look like they would from the pictures.

Or if anyone knows an easy way to create your own plug that looks fairly decent that would be cool too.

I checked around the forum here, but i wasnt able to find any info regarding this yet. I appologize if it has been brought up before.

Find one of those old Sony Walkman tape players that was supposed to be water resistant. (Ebay or craiglist?). I remember they had the rubber headphone jack cover on them. Random, I know.

interestingly enough, i found a DIY guide on creating your own dummy plug that does involve mutilating an existing headphone plug. You just need to trim the metal part up so it doesn't trigger the phone to think there is headphones plugged in.

ill try it out this weekend and if i remember i will post back here. anyone else tried making their own? anyone else worried about dust or water getting in there?

Do you want the jack cover for aesthetic reasons, or to prevent debris from entering the exposed holes (OR both)? If this is mostly out of concern in regards to debris, I would suggest purchasing a nice case for the device (I have a leather Body Glove case), and/or always have a can of compressed air lying around (The same one which is used for cleaning computer keyboards). A quick burst of that should clean out any debris in the jack/USB holes.

I would stay away from the compressed air, if you dont have a dust under the screen issue you probably will after the forced air enema.

If that is a concern, then I would think that you could always place the device in a zip-loc bag, and then cut-out a small hole in the corner of the bag (While aligning the Hero's jacks, and the cut-out). Hold it to a tight seal, then puff a blast of the compressed air directly into the hole, from at least six inches away.

Then again, where exactly is the dust most often noted as making entry into the Hero?
