Help Bluetooth won't connect to head unit - HELP!

Hi all, after much searching of the bluetooth threads i need to ask (sorry)

I don't seem to be able to get my Desire to connect to my head unit even though both units are paired.

It seems to connect momentarily during the scan for the dvice then i get the "bluetooth headset disconnected" message on the phone?

Head unit is a Kenwood BT50U (which supposts A2DP & AVRCP supposedly) and the device & headunit have both had the 0000 default code entered into them when pairing. All the phone shows is the device in the list with "paired but not connected" under it.

Wifi is off
phone is discoverable

Is it the bluetooth on the phone at fault or the headunit?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

I have the same problem with the HBH-DS970 from SE. It only pairs to the media source aftr saying it's been disconnected. I'm glad it's not just me, but I don't know what that means.

I had an N95 8gb before synced to my pioneer deh 600bt, when i got the desire it was an absolute nightmare to get it to pair properly, to be honest i cant really remember what i did but i messed for ages on the phone and the head unit and eventually it started working so I havent touched any settings since.

sorry i couldnt be anymore help, i guess ill have to go through it all again once the 2.2 update finally arrives grr....

I had mine up and running in minutes on my sony head unit.

I can't remember exactly but I think you have to click (or pehaps press and hold) where it says paired not connected and then connect that way. It's a bit late for me to confirm now and my car is in the garage tomorrow. I'll be able to have a play on Saturday though i.e. delete the head unit from my devices and start from scratch.

My Desire wont connect to my hand-free Visor Go R57. It is paired but will not prompt for security code of handfree (0000) so disconnects immediately. I would love to know if there is a fix for this or will I have to buy a new handsfree? I love my Desire but am not impressed with this as I use bluetooth for business! I have checked all the settings and cannot find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

AN UPDATE! I gave up and bought a Motorola T215 which will connect to the Desire no problem but the voice quality is not a patch on the Visor Go. I was going to sell it on e-bay but may hold onto it in the hope of an update for the Desire!

I can connect my Desire (v2.2 stock ROM) to multiple BT devices, including a stereo headset and a Parrot car-kit. First remove all previously paired devices from Desire, and if possible from the other BT device (for example the car-kit). Then check, if there is a new software update available for your BT device. I updated my Parrot car-kit firmware and only then Desire could maintain a stable and automatic BT connection to my satisfaction.

My Desire stopped pairing reliably with our car phone after HTC updated the stock ROM to v2.2. I tried everything to get bluetooth working properly again, including a hard reset, but with no luck at all.

After weeks of pulling my hair out, I finally bit the bullet, rooted my phone and flashed it with the CyanogenMod 6.1.1 ROM. Now the Desire pairs with my car every single time.

No kidding - the stock software is really horrible. I flashed it to Miui and now Bluetooth works perfectly. If not for the bad bluetooth, I wouldn't have flashed.

Yeah, my battery life has improved and the amount of apps I can install has 5-10 folded so no complaints here! My brother is really jealous about my Wiimote support as well - he has a stock Desire.
