Today I have been looking for ways to get better battery life. I was talking to my friend would has a galaxy s phone aswell and he said to turn off haptive feedback if you don't think its that important. the little vibration motor uses a lot of power to run. He has noticed since turning it off that he gets way better battery life. that little sucker must be a motorcyle engine or something

Where is the setting located. I believe I'd turned it off once, but can't find it again after updating to 2.2. Never mind, I found it under sounds, but since upgrading the OS, I get a vibrate when the phone boots up, any way to turn that off too?

I get that same vibration after shutting it down, starting it up, and during the "Galaxy S" boot screen. Wondering the same thing myself.

After reading this post I've decided to turn off the haptic feedback as well. It's taking some getting used to. And it's not surprising that the haptic feedback would run down the battery. Any electric motor takes a fair amount of energy to wind up. Factor in all the windups in a given day (as I use it), and it makes sense that it would use quite a bit of battery. It will be interesting to see...
