Like Caddyman said, there isn't one. However, I find it helpful to sort by size (by pressing menu) when I am in Applications. That will put the biggest ones on top.
I didn't see much change in performance from cache clearing, either, but it is important if you need to gauge how much free space your really have.
For example, in the "SD card and phone memory" settings screen it was telling me I only had 40MB free, and I was thinking, wow, I better start deleting some apps before I d/l any new ones. But after I deleted some caches, I had nearly 80MB free! So...
I don't know about you guys but I clear my cache once or twice a day, depending on usage, and I notice an instant improvement on the lag when I clear them. And I can always tell when the caches start to get high because I can see a very noticeable increase in the lag. I may be wrong, but it's something I can see with my own eyes.
actually you are correct. so i would just keep a mental note of what you use as far as programs and check them. usually any browser and the album app can get built up.
