Altho' I have listed a G-1 it is only temporary. I have tested it and can't really use the sliding keyboard and hoped to find a replacement for my rapidly aging Treo650 that was lighter.

The reason I have the G1 is that the MyTouch I had on 14 day trial all of a sudden lost all wifi and broadband access and all attempts of mine and the local T-Mobile folks at the mall can't restart them. (Rooting the phone is not an option for the trial). A replacement MyTouch should be in today or tomorrow.

Are you aware of others who have experienced the same thing? I don't mind being on the cutting edge but don't want to be on the 'bleeding edge'....

Sounds like the radios just die .... we know any hardware can fail .... just hope it isnt on our phone!!! ... Hopefully the replacement with be a solid performer!!

Sorry if i missed something...

Ok now to my issue. My friend wanted to play with my phone. He does not know my unlock pattern at all. He grabs the phone and just does some random fast scribble scrabble pattern and magically unlocks the pattern. I grab the phone lock it by pressing on the end call button to lock it again and i go ahead and do the same thing he did and it unlocked my pattern. Why is this happening? could it be cause my phone is rooted? is this a flaw from android? He told me that it is a bug or something that all android phones have. Hope you guys can help. This might not be the place to ask, and if its not i'll gladly make a post where that should be, but for now I used to have a 1GB sd card in my phone and wanted to upgrade to a larger card. Since i have a2sd setup on my phone I wanted to make an exact replica of the card so i wouldnt have to worry about reinstalling all my apps or any issues with them, I used dd on linux to make an exact copy then just resized it for the larger card. I had to reinstall some of the apps since they wouldn't work (i had to force close them everytime i tried to run them), and i'm having issues with some of my apps (like GV) updating on time. Is this maybe related to permissions of the apps or does anyone know what may be causing this or is there a way to fix it, without reformatting the card and all that painful stuff?

Problem? Whenever I try to input text in any application using Touchpal, as soon as I press the first letter, it shows the letter I pressed as it should, but then closes down the soft keyboard. This problem only started yesterday and is only with the Touchpal Keyboard. I'v tried turning it off and on again, but to no avail.

probably an obvious question but have you tried the volume key? (im assuming its a G1 or hero?) if you press the volume key so it reduces the volume it comes to silent mode then if you press it again it goes to vibrate, putting it on silent kills all sounds coming from the phone excluding media like if music is playing. hope this helps?

It's an HTC Eris.

I routinely use the volume keys. Still doesn't stop various tones... I think these are when wi-fi and/or 3G go on/off - though I can't confirm yet... only really happens at night when on the charger!

in which case i would imagine it will be in the settings somewhere. though you will probably have to delve deep into each of the settings to find it, but if you change anything remember what you changed and where it is, common mistake lol (and from past experience )

OK, so I have been playing with several home screen replacements (GDE, DxTOP,Opne Home,91Pandahome_)... Last thing I did was instll an Open Home control widget on GDE and after that my net work service stopped. A bunch of apps started to crash and force close (google voice, PHONE!!, 91Pandahome...).

I tried searching and I recall a thread about deleting a system button while activated (don't do that- DOH!) and there was another post with a similar problem (cant get into Wrireless controls settings- cannot get network). The OP of that thread said he had to reset his phone and get it set up again through verizon to get it working... I'd hate to lose all my downloads,apps... is there any other workarounds. Should I try deleting installed homescreen replacement apps... go back in time and not press the button that screwed everything up... Please help.

By the way first post here... been shadowing threads and there is a tremendous amount of advice and information here. Glad to be a member.

My question doesn't really require any information about my phone but basically I'm have a Droid on 2.0.1. My question is that if I have the GPS "on", is it always actually ON? As in using it? I keep the GPS "on" but the GPS icon doesn't appear on my bar until I open up Google Maps or other applications that use GPS. I figured that meant it wasn't using GPS until I use an app that needs it. But I'd just like to know! Thanks!

I am a fairly new user of the android Eris.
I have searched the forum to find an answer to this, but had no luck.
Hoping someone knows what the "$#!*%" I did to get to this point.

3 of my home pages are gone, my main one with time, battery life...blah-blah and then my favorites call list and another.

I saved my scene pages, but when I go to my settings and re-choose it, nothing happens. Also, the applications are now accessible from the bottom of the screen and slide up by an arrow tab.

Anyone know what's up?

I've been streaming podcasts on Doggcatcher through to my car stereo for a while now. Although I've had issues with the pitch with bluetooth streaming (which HTC are aware and hoping to fix on a future update), it's worked fine until recently. In the last few days I have been getting the following message whenever I try and play the media (with and without bluetooth streaming enabled):

error playing media: java.lang. stringindexoutofboundsexception

When it first happened, I just restarted the phone and it then worked as normal. This happened about 2-3 times. However, this morning, even a re-start hasn't helped. Has anyone got any ideas as to how I might fix this?

Call customer service, (Have an extra phone around?) my carrier is Verizon and they helped me right away. Or contact your server via email...
