Amazon App Store Thread - Daily Free Apps

GrooveIP is "on sale" for $1.99 today. This will be the 1st app I actually buy.

Question: Amazon shows I have 2 devices LG VM670 and LG VM670-1... any clue how that could happen? Can I just delete the -1 and not worry about apps disappearing?

Ya, just delete one of them. I'm not sure why it adds more than one device. It added my EVO 4 times. I just got the E3D and deleted all of the EVOs from the account and all of the apps are still there.

Is anyone else having difficulty downloading today's application? Initially, I thought it was an issue this morning because Amazon put up an app that turned out to be a pay to play game. But, now even with the new one up I still can't download it.

It's claiming geographical reasons as if I'm suddenly outside of the United States. Which, I'm not.

Question for those of you who have downloaded numerous free apps from Amazon over the past couple of months:

When you uninstall an app, and the developer later updates it, it appears in your New list.

Any way to remove these from your New list without installing them again and then uninstalling them?

I'm starting to get a fairly long list in my New section and I rather it be just the apps that I'm truly adding to my phone for the first time

It's not running on my phone either. I do agree with you that it's BS that you have to have the app store installed in order to access any of your apps though.

Definitely. The Gingerbread update logged me off the appstore, after which I noticed that none of the apps (one paid, others free) no longer run. It insists that I be logged into the store to run them. (Why??)
What happens if I have no connection?

I let Amazon know about my dissatisfaction with this, and that I would not be buying any more apps from them, then uninstalled it.

You don't need to have a data connection to run apps from the Amazon Appstore. I just put my phone in airplane mode and was able to launch apps from the Amazon Appstore.

I think, at least with some apps, you have to run them once, while having an active internet connection, in order for them to work. After that, I think you are ok in airplane mode. I think, either way, you do have to have the Amazon appstore still installed.

Another question. Is there any way to view a changelog in the Amazon appstore? I almost always review an apps changelog in the Android Market before I upgrade. I'm either missing something easy or it's a huge oversight on Amazon's part.

I don't think there is. I have also had issues with how Amazon pushes updates. I have three updates pending for my apps. I can see them if I manually check. I get no automatic notifications that the updates are there.

"Apparatus" today. I don't usually download "large" apps, but I'm an engineer and this looked fun. What's nice is it's 12 mb, but moves to SD as 1 mb (most apps don't shrink that much!). And it is challenging!
Yeah... I doubt it compressed itself to the point of being twelve times smaller. The more likely case is that user data is being sent to the SD card while the application is left on the phone space.

I really dont know which is worse with the free apps...the apps they chose for the daily freebie, or the fact that these apps are actually paid apps. I hate to complain about free, but holy hell, theres been a grand total of 4 apps ive downloaded and one that was worth the space on my phone.

thats my rant for the day....carry on haha

Wondering if anyone else has stumbled across this or can confirm that this works for them...

So a couple weeks ago I setup my wife's E4G. I got all the apps that I wanted from Amazon market and Android market. Then I rooted her phone. Then, I can't remember why, but I also wiped the data from the Android market.

Now her E4G, rooted with 2.2, shows all of the AMAZON apps IN THE ANDROID MARKET. It says that updates are available, THROUGH THE ANDROID MARKET. And it will pretend like updates are available all the way until after I hit the update button...

Then it asks me to purchase the app through the android market...

My phone was already rooted when I installed the AppStore, but I have changed ROMs and wiped everything a couple times and I haven't experienced this at all.

If I have an app from the Market installed, the Appstore recognizes it and says there is an update to it (an update to an older version too...) but not vice versa like you are experiencing.

If you are still having the problem download titanium backup pro and you can remove market links
