Accessories Extended Capacity Batteries

Has anyone here purchased a high capacity battery for the Desire HD from ebay? I've seen 1500mah, 1600mah, 1800mah, 1930mah and even 2430mah but the battery is the same size as the stock battery. Is it possible? Anyone know if they really provide better battery life?

I purchased 2-1600 mah batteries off of ebay and they are no better than the original. That is not a complaint, just my observation. Still a cheap way to make sure you always have power when needed. Can't do that on an iphone

I work 24 hours shifts and most days I get through but there are the occasional days when I need that second battery.

Yeah, you got that right. The iphone is nothing more than a paperweight once its out of juice. I've just purchased a 2430mah battery off ebay and I'll see if its better for me but I'm a bit skeptical. If it works great, otherwise it will do fine as a backup. 2430mah gold business battery...I don't know...

I'd say that if HTC could've put a better battery in their top device (as it was at the time of release), they would have.

There are a couple of reports that "extended" batteries are better against loads that they're no better than the battery HTC gave with the handset.

From personal experience, I've never stuck with a 3rd Party battery, I've always reverted to stock.

For a couple of quid though, they do make handy spares.

What about specialist battery manufacturers like mugen power, andida and e-cell? Surely they would have invested sufficiently to ensure their products are safe and perform well?

I mean they only manufacture a single product so they must be able to get something right and they have quite a good reputation for quality. They're not like some others which cost like 10 quid right?

Mugen have quite a reputation for quality, but never used them so can't say either way. The Andida batteries are no better than stock and also slighlty bigger. I've never heard of e-cell?

I don't know enough about those companies to comment on that, to be honest. I said what I said purely based on the fact that my two spare batteries, one of which is an Andida, were bought for

desire HD is in dire need of something. every time i look at the bloody battery wigdet it drops 1%. Its amazing.

Menu-settings-wireless & networks-mobile networks-and uncheck "enable always-on mobile data"!

Everything will still sync, as before, just won't always be looking for a connection for nothing!

Second thing is to
Menu-settings-wireless & networks-Wi-Fi settings-menu-advanced-Wi-fi sleep policy and set it to "after 15 mins"

Most will already know this but some might not.

These two things have added 30-40 % to my battery easily.

Mugen do seem to know what they are doing, although I've never owned one of their batteries, but then they also charge more I believe.

A lot more, close to 50GBP with shipping. That's pushing it a bit for the extra 270mah.

Everything will still sync, as before, just won't always be looking for a connection for nothing!

Interesting I haven't checked these 2 options, but I often get minimum 12 hrs with heavy use and 3 hr display time.

Well I purchased one of these batterys from ebay and after using it for a few weeks with battery monitor I can tell you that first it lasts no longer than my standard 1400 mah battery, and also the battery monitor only shows 1190 mah capacity. WHAT A WASTE OF

I purchased two of the Andida 1800 mah Li-ion high capacity batteries last summer. Both still give good life, never less than 24hr, and I am a moderate user, plus always playing daft games and music. I know there are a lot of sceptical users, but they (to me at any rate) appear good capacity batteries, and much better shelf life than the original 1200 HTC battery or the replacement 1550mah that I also got when I first had my HD.

I've purchased this one off ebay also and can report that it has almost precisely the same life as the original. Which for a battery that claims to offer almost double the capacity of the original is pretty poor. If it was left on standby with virtually no drain on it it would just about outlast the original but i am a heavy user and it drains all that capacity very quickly under use. All of which suggests poor quality.

I've since tried an 'Anker' one of 1600mAh and this is immediately better than the Gold one but with all this fannying about i've actually managed to loose the original so i haven't been able to compare it with the Anker. After the Gold one i imagine the Anker feels better than it actually is and is probably similar to the original!

I got the ANDIDA battery 1800mAh from Obostore, works fine but doesnt perform any better, I do have a spare battery now which is nice, quality seems fine and fit is fine!

/edit dont forget to remove the plasic cover from the metal contacts otherwise it wont work at all ;-)
