***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

First of all, the Rezound had an official release date and what happened was ONLY that they shipped some orders ahead of the release day.

Second of all, as soon as they said "we have no Galaxy Nexus," what was to be gained by giving them a bunch of crap about spouting off a bunch of GNex specs to them asking for a phone that meets that description? And then posting online about how they're a bunch of idiots with "facepalm" images like they were stupid for even intimating that another phone in their inventory might meet your requirements?

At this point, VZW has no one to blame but themselves. It was a huge mistake allowing this phone to be announced without a release date. Of course it could be Samsung and Google holding up the announcement, but the most recent official comment from them indicates it's in VZW's court(the Fox Business video).

Although I wouldn't harass a CSR through chat after finding out they have no SGN info, I have zero problem with people pulling them into chat to try to get information. Especially with the Rezound early shipments, and especially with the lack of info from VZW. Same deal with the Twitter campaign that happened a couple of weeks ago. The consumer flexing their muscle is exactly what needs to happen to show these corporations that some transparency is in order.

Gosh, harassing Verizon employees to purchase phones that do not exist in their inventory and they have no information on sure seems like the epitome of maturity and reasonable behavior.

Isn't a big piece of this forum about extending kindness and pleasantness to everyone? Isn't that the zero tolerance policy? So why is it appropriate to post harassing conversations with Verizon employees?

What, precisely, did you expect them to say to you? "Oh, yes sir, I have a Nexus right here I can ship you." THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE PHONE. They are sales people. They are going to try to sell you the most appropriate phone in their inventory. Why is this a "facepalm"? Do you expect everyone who talks to you to be technical geniuses? They are employees trying their best. Did you know that there are people smarter than you, too? Do you think that people who are smarter or more learned than you are justified in talking down to you, or would you hope they would have some empathy?

Harassing them is absolutely rude and classless.

Couldn't agree more BV. These CSR reps don't have any info on upcoming products. Anyone who thinks calling them up and trying to get them to "spill-the-beans" is going to get any info is dreaming. As Stephen pointed out earlier, the CSR reps who actually know a little bit about this phone are enthusiasts like us, and often browse these forums for some info.

While we have a general consensus that CSR reps are clueless, they are people just like us trying to make a living and tow the company line and not get fired. Give em a little bit of slack.

Remember, you attact more flies with honey than vinegar.

Is there anyone here that think the 16gb GNex will be $199 and the 32gb $299. I feel like if they are not, the phone will not be able to compete with the iPhone 4S to the average user who buys based on look and price.

The pricing sounds reasonable. I think the big difference is going to be LTE though. Android phones have it and the iPhones do not. I think we will probably see 16gb at $199 to $249 and the 32 gb will be $299.

Not gonna disagree with the sentiment, but the phrase itself reminded me of this :D

Exactly. People got Rezounds shipped to them 5 days before launch by talking to Verizon CSRs online.
The least we can do is try to get some Gnex information out of them, if not an order. I don't think chatting them asking questions can be considered harassment.

In any case, it was fruitless with the Gnex, so I don't know what to do except wait

And we're not marvelling at the CSRs' stupidity or anything, we've acknowledged that they're just working for the paycheck. What we're "facepalming" at is Verizon's apparent attempt to sell off their Bionic stock. Or at least I was, can't speak for everybody.

I was too.

I think that it's been tossed around at either $199 or $249 for the 16 - but purely speculation at this point.

Exactly. This is like a customer at a car dealership asking about a new Corvette model that's coming out, and the salesman responding "I don't have any information on the new Corvette, but I've got a terrific Cavilier on the lot right now!"

That said, any facepalm images posted where for the sake of levity only. :)

Only if the 16GB Gnex doesn't have 4G.

Verizon uses 4G to justify selling a phone for $299, while still being competitive with the iPhone. Maybe the 16GB will go for $249 but not $199.

I know we all are talking about the ups & downs, the peaks and valleys, the rollercoaster we have been on the last month or so, etc.......

but maybe we are not going so much "up and down" as we are "forward and back"........

Gonna Make It - YouTube

I know for me personally, I simply MUST stay away from the VZW store for the next few days - I don't trust myself as to what I might do if I go put my hands on a Razr........

So I have been to the VZW store on Cupertino, CA three times now to pester Bill and the guys there about the GNex. Every time I walk in they try to sell me the DRAZR! They know I want the GNex but insist on selling me a phone they can hardly describe! I told my wife the other day that all of us in this forum should work for VZW, if even just part-time. I know on my two days off I would outsell these guys. They are nice people but underinformed.

Back on topic (was the above off topic?): I am crossing fingers and toesies for some more great news today. Love Tunnel is my saving grace. Steven: I haven't posted in a week or so but thank thank thank thank you for all you do. I will be premium by the weekend! GO GNexers!

Agreed. Asking them about when the GNex is coming will not reduce them to tears. The more times they talk about customers asking about the SGN, the more managers and other upper-level people will get a clue.

We don't need to be rude, I agree, but we also don't need to be iSheep either.

Man this needs to launch next week, just got text from wife she sent last night, been having to do multiple battery pulls on my DX as the radios are freezing up on data and the like. It's almost as if it knows it's getting replaced soon.

They do. Every bit of tech that I even talk about replacing immediately gets pissed and starts acting up. Even when threatened with a backhand slap.

The only problem with that is, Verizon is getting the Galaxy Nexus right?

well the verizon version is the i515, so by model number, that is the Verizon version. Not sure why they call it Nexus Prime... has this been answered already? Would be an awesome surprise if it was the Nexus Prime on Verizon...

Well, woke up this morning to 3 inches of water in the basement and a blown hot water heater. Now, after deductable and replacement costs looks like the Transformers are out for now.

Not at all related, but worth mentioning. get one of these when you install (or have installed) your water heater. it's CHEAP insurance to protect against flooding

Aluminum Water Heater Pan Aluminum Water Heater Pan-15282 at The Home Depot

Simply point the drain hole to your drain in the floor, or attach a short segment of garden hose.

Good luck!

I appreciate you opinion, but having worked in a "cattle-center", you have a misunderstanding about what goes on.

they show-up they push whats on the guide sheet for the day and they go home. their cattle and treated like such. at NO point do the managers care or want to know what the consumers are asking for...

(disclaimer: I've never worked at a VZW call center, but I do have personal experience of them and had several close friends that worked in them)

I would be thrilled to see this nomenclature assigned to the VZW version as well! or maybe their slow to update their site just as they are with blu-ray firmwares (like the one I have) :p

Maybe my idea from way back could have some merit.

I think we'll only see a 32GB version on Verizon. Just don't see Samsung running a separate production line to produce both a 16GB and 32GB LTE version.
