***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I am very concerned that, if I "test drive" a RAZR or ReZound for 2 weeks, I may be happy enough with it to keep it

Maybe THAT'S what VZW is banking on: people loving the new phone so much and being so caught up in the excitement of the holidays that they "forget" the end date and end up keeping their phone?

I dunno. I'm not going to be tempted. I will not be swayed. I will not get either phone in lieu of a Nexus. I am patient..... I can wait.

What?!! You should be heading to the farm!! Some of the best times of my life.

Not my generation's trip, Riffs. 20 years ago you couldn't keep me away! But I have successfully detached myself from pop culture and today's "music"... which is pretty much what Bonnaroo headlines. Now if a group or two I know & love come to the farm, I'll be the first to volunteer to work there in exchange for free admission ;)

Hi guys...I am new to post to the forum but an avid reader. I was one of the people who bit the Bionic bullet but returned it right away after multiple problems. I am going nuts reading about all these release dates and my Droid 2 seems to be dying a slow death. Come on GN!!!

Anyways, did anyone notice @VZWsupport on twitter today? I was home with my daughter who was sick all day, Steven I feel your pain, and I noticed they sent the GN sign up message over and over. I would post it on here but I can't because I am new.

Now is this a sign or am I just reading into it? Insight please...

Welcome Welcome.

I believe the twitter posted it today more than usual.

Welcome Mountaineer! :D

Join the elite (well, not so elite) group of Gnexers whose OG Droids are on their last legs! My poor Beloved Droid is so overdue for retirement it's not even funny any more.

Please, Verizon, PLEASE release this thing!

Yeah, I would say mine makes/receives calls about 40% of the time. I do a battery pull daily. Hope it comes out the 17th!

Releasing the source code before the release (I don't believe the phone has been released anywhere?) may be googles way of forcing verizon into releasing the galaxy Nexus. just my thoughts
I know, personally, that if CM9 with ICS comes out before the GNex does I'll just throw that on my DInc and I may be able to hold onto my upgrade and save $300 for the holiday season.

I wan't the GNex really badly, but honestly ICS is the most important part of the package to me and if Verizon doesn't get on their horse and release this puppy before CM can get something out I might be swayed into saving my $ and going month to month and seeing what happens in the near future.

That could very well be. With the source code released, ICS could start popping up on other devices soon and before the Nexus if the Nexus isn't released soon.

This whole narrative where VZW is pushing the phone back to sell more RAZRs or ReZounds does not make any logical sense. There are a limited number of people that are going to buy a phone in the next few months. How does it benefit VZW to sell more of any one phone earlier than the others? Unless there is reason to believe VZW would be happy to sell everyone a RAZR and be left with a supply of the other phones that they will have to eventually sell discounted. In this case they would not have agreed to carry the other phones in the first place.

Businesses do not operate this way. There has to be more to it than that. My gripe is the total lack of information. If they would just be forthcoming about the status then I would be satisfied. Tell me it is scheduled on purpose to prevent overload on the staff, tell me it is due to some final testing that has to be completed, tell me it is scheduled for early December. Just tell me something already!

The ROM guys are good, but I don't think they'll be that fast. Wasn't someone saying earlier that the fastest an AOSP ROM came out after a new version was released was about six weeks?

That was an official release from a carrier.

Rom chefs can work pretty quickly to get beta / nightly versions out because there is no bureaucracy and we are the ones who do the testing for them.

Welcome to the wait for the best phone yet!

If they push one out that fast it'll be with a HUGE disclaimer that there are bugs and it could break things. Lol.

I hope that Google will release the GSM version at the same time as verizon :(

I am stuck with AT&T and I hope that Gnex comes to AT&T. I think BMX works at Google. Does anyone have access to him to find out if/when the Gnex gets to AT&T?

I know this is the wrong forum to ask this but it is the the most informative. And the most entertaining!

I really wanted pure ICS but if have to wait many months I might just have to go with SGS2 for $0.96 on black friday at Sams

Great post.

"Transparency" has been a huge buzz word for some time now, but if our politicians toss it around like a football, you can bet Verizon certainly doesn't feel compelled to provide anything of the sort.

As a 10+ year customer, it's literally the only thing that pisses me off about Verizon.

While we wait.... I am trying to hold out for the Galaxy Nexus. The new return policy is NOT making it easier. I am seriously thinking about opening a new line, just to test the Rezound or perhaps the Razr. But right now I am trying to get more life out of my Droid X. Running a nandroid back up on it right now and fixing to install ICX rom. Never done this before so... :D

Hope this fixes the random reboots and other issues.

I agree about keeping us informed. A little communication goes a long way. Like when waiting to talk to someone, it helps if the person acknowledges you and lets you know they'd be with you in a few minutes. I've seen people just ignore you, and that's not right.

But as for your other comment about Verizon not caring about which phone they sell, there is a theory that they make more money on the RAZR and Rezound due to adding bloatware.

I'm not sure I fully agree with that, as I think Verizon is getting something from Google for selling the Nexus as well. But that is the conventional thinking.
