***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

A kid doesn't pay his parents and expect good customer service/PR skills. Everything he gets is a gift so yeah, crying about not getting a present makes him a spoiled brat.

Hell, if Verizon wants to give me free service for the next 2 years, I'll buy a RAZR right now.

And I said I was thinking about going unsubsidized, but it doesn't really add up financially, after thinking about it.

Exactly my point. Release it in mid-January for all I care. JUST TELL ME.

I thought you were paying for cell service, did you pay for your nexus yet? As far as I can tell, the customer service beef is that they haven't told you when the phone is available, or have you had other issues?

They can't. They don't know. They are going to make a decision, eventually, based on sales and bottom line. Releasing the GN means either killing or heavily discounting the RAZR, which was released less than a week ago.

If that's the case, that they really don't know and they're waiting to see if crappy RAZR sales pick up for some unexplained reason, then they are far, far more stupid than I thought.

I don't think Verizon is concerned about which one WE decide to buy, you're right in that aspect. I think their concern is that the series of events didn't line up well to keep the phonemakers all happy and that is what Verizon is trying to do.

My theory:
Gnex was supposed to release on 11/3. It was pushed back for whatever reason, doesn't matter why. Now it's too congested because we have the Razr, Rezound and Gnex all stacked up like ducks in a row. That may have been an okay deal at one point but something happened...the Gnex turned out to be a hugely sought after device. Verizon didn't see this coming and it blindsided them. So they are simply trying to appease everyone as much as possible and by "everyone" I don't mean us. We are secondary, the manufacturers are the primary concern. They want to give the Razr as much time as possible to keep relations up with Motorola and I think almost pretending to throw a bone to HTC, a lesser player in this. As another user said, if they release the Gnex tomorrow, Razr sales will stall bigtime. I think that's a true statement.

So they're milking this thing out as long as possible without completely upsetting any manufacturer although Samsung is probably starting to get itchy, idk. That's why I think it'll release fairly soon. I sincerely think they're trying to give both the Razr and the Gnex enough space that they compete with each other as minimally as possible although some overlap is certainly going to happen.

What's hilarious about all this is that, at the same time VZ is trying to please Moto, Google is just buying Moto straight up!! I say just release GN now. Google and Sammy will be happy and Moto won't really care since Google is buying them. :D

Not criticizing you at all... but your situation is EXACTLY what VZW is delaying the GN launch for.

I believe this to be true. As more people settle for what is already available, what incentive is there for VZW to realease the Nexus? As I mentioned yesterday, people caving and "renting" RAZRs and Rezounds are playing into their hand. If you are waiting for the Nexus, why not just wait?

Again the pages stats is not the same for everyone.

That can be true, but the standard page format (which most people use) would match up the same for the most part. If this thread reaches 959 pages then the post count would be about the same. In the end, does it really matter? Not either way that you look at it, but it is fun to see where we are compared to the only thread that is larger than this one.

I hope google did tell Verizon to piss off and Tmobile will have the nexus before Verizon. That would serve them right and they deserve to lose potential customers for delaying this phone.

Even though I think that would be awesome for them to lose some customers over not releasing the phone or letting us know an exact release date and putting it off I doubt they would really care. The number of people that would leave VZW to Tmobile is not that great. I cant even get Tmobile in my area :( if they are to give it to them first because of the shenanigans Verizon is pulling

That thought had crossed my mind as well. Just not sure where that whole thing was at and what the backdoor ramifications are with one brand appearing less viable than another when going head to head.

New plan: Food Bribery. Let's send them Pumpple.
Pie Cake -- Meet the Pumpple Cake ... and All 1,800 of Its Calories

Oh, good. We weren't sure exactly how we were going to gain those 10 holiday pounds this year, and we hate uncertainty. It's a good thing we found out about the pumpple cake.

Despite its suggestive-sounding name, the pumpple cake will not give you lip sores, just a wicked case of the night bloats. Each slice packs 1,800 calories, (although, to be fair, you're supposed to share it with three other people). At the same time, who shares a slice of cake with anyone? We prefer wielding a steak knife and guarding ours suspiciously.

The pumpple cake is pumpkin pie and apple pie baked into chocolate and vanilla cake, respectively. The whole thing is then stuck together with a metric butt-ton of buttercream frosting. You know, because when you're eating pies baked into cake you gotta have some buttercream.

The pumpple cake is made by the Flying Monkey Patisserie in Philadelphia, and although we've never tried their pumpple cake, we can tell you their pecan bars and brownies are freakin' amazing. If you live in the area you can order a pumpple cake with 72 hours' advance notice, but be warned: The whole thing weighs 15 pounds and will make you feel very guilty the next day.

Good grief.... that is a diabetic coma looking for a place to happen.... :D

Anyone who is diabetic should be warned to take their insulin before reading that.... ;):D

The annoying part is the being strung a long. They want huge hype. They want a following. Then they are either unorganized or jerkish enough to continue it along for profit and not reward the loyal followers/customers. Or at least that's how it appears from a customer's standpoint.

I get what you're saying, but I think it's the blogs and sources who are unintentionally stinging us along, not Verizon. And honestly there's not much hype for this phone other than the internet/blog/board echo chamber. Go ask 20 people if they've heard of the Galaxy Nexus and 19 will tell you no, ask the same people if they've heard of the iphone or android and they'll all probably answer yes.

Actually I have had other issues in the past with them where they've totally d-bagged me for charges I never even incurred. But that's neither here nor there. Companies should always look out for their customers whenever possible. That generates a ton of good will and translates into better profits down the line.

I don't understand why it's so unreasonable to expect solid customer service and public relations skills from a company you're doing business with. The whole world will be getting this device before they will, and they couldn't care less.

RAZR sales are abysmal for a reason. Looking at its specs, they shouldn't be abysmal; it's a very solid phone. I can only think that SGN frenzy is a part of that. But they don't care what their customers want.

And I'll never forget that they released the garbage Bionic (knowing it was garbage, according to the Love Tunnel), with the full realization that a million people were going to feel totally screwed over with the RAZR coming out 8 weeks later, and they did it anyway, selling it at the highest price point they could.

They're immoral. I'm sorry if that offends the Verizon lovers in here, but they are. Now, are they the most evil company in the world? No. Do I hate them as much as the Penn State leadership? No. But I still dislike them very, very much, and I don't get why I'm being criticized for that.

True, but Verizon can't be blind to the fact that many who do buy the RAZRs and HTC devices at this point will return them when the SGN comes out. That will incur costs in manpower for refurbishing, and then they won't be able to sell them at "new" prices.

Announcing a release date now makes business sense as well.
