First of all, im sory if i opened thread to wrong place but i couldnt find any forum about questions. I will change my 3GS with a new Android phone, i used a lot of Android like Desire, Galaxy.. Listening music is my first priority for a phone. So i need to know which one is best for audio quality, Sensation XE or Galaxy S2 or another one? I know sensation xe has dr.dre headphones but they didn't changed its audio chip, just added new EQ settings for headphone but also Samsung changed the GalaxyS's audio chip for S2, they didn't used wolfson. So which one you prefer for listening music & audio quality?

p.s.: a lot of people like the Sense but i hate it. i prefer samsung interface also there isnt any custom rom for xe on xde forums.

I have owned Eris, Incredible, D2, Fascinate, Tbolt as far as android phones go. And the only plus I have seen versus the iphones were the ability to run FLAC files on android phones. Otherwise the iphones are superior for music, which I think is due to a better internal amp, I am not positive tho, I never really looked too into it, cause if I am listening to music from a phone I have come to accept that it is not going to be top quality.

i heard that audio quality sounds better on devices that suppport voodoo sound. like the original galaxy phones. not sure about the new sammy's though.

This is pretty interesting, do you have a link or source to the claim? I was just going to pop in here and say the Galaxy Nexus has really great sound quality, even streaming. No subtle feedback noises like the Incredible and Thunderbolt.

I have a Droid III. The DAC in the phone is at least 24/96 as evidenced by the Poweramp App that I use to play music. It will take my 24/96 Flac files and play them at the same resolution (though it will only send a wireless BlueTooth signal at CD quality.

How do I know I am getting Hi-Rez...first it accepts the Hi-Rez file from my PC and second the Poweramp app provides the playback frequency, in this case 96.

So, If you really are serious about the music, try a Droid III...it is also an international phone, which is why 4G is not important to me.

Another bit of trivia...The DAC in the latest iPhone and iPODs are limited to CD fidelity...

I'm guessing that "Voodoo Sound" was this...

Yep. It looks like the Wolfson DAC has inherited the golden-eared throne from Burr-Brown, now that they're just a part of TI. I don't buy the notion that only engineers working for small American or British companies are able to design transcendent DACs, and have plenty of respect for some of the mass produced models made by computer chip makers. I also realize that the rest of the analog stage has to be up to snuff too.

I don't care for the sound of my SII.

I'll keep on carrying my COWON X5 when it comes to serious listening. No cellphone is going to give me a real power amp stage that's stable enough to drive earphones with a wide variety of impedances and deliver adequate power in the linear range. AFAIK, COWON is the only line that publishes output power numbers, and meet them. If I really and truly need more power, I have my Total Bithead to help out.

I haven't seen any serious testing to know if carrying the brand helps or not. It seems to be more of a marketing thing than anything else. I welcome any materials that shed more light on what the technical design details are.

No it doesn't. Its just messing with the bass levels a bit. Its pure marketing. Plus the beats headphones (earbuds) are not even as good as my 1/5th the price Sennheiser earbuds.

From an application point of view, PowerAmp is a really good player to get good quality. The Siyah Kernel for the SGS3 adds some great additional quality too.
