hi to all - i am a new member, and new to the droid. i have been reading posts and can see that i am in WAY over my head in every way!! i had a blackberry curve, and never really felt it was user friendly, so i switched. i am determined to get more out of this phone...so bear with me as i ask some very very basic questions. i hvae been reading about the adv task killer app, which i was told i HAVE to have (verizon)...and now i am not so sure. i dont get my emails on a regular basis, which is vital for me. so i am thinking to kill the killer app - here is my simple question: do i just drag it to the trash bin, and it is gone forever?
thanks! birdy

thanks! i finally found my answer thru search (thx for your patience!) but am still wondering if this will help with my emails.

If you are referring to Gmail notifications ... go into the apps and check the settings....

If you are talking about other email accounts...
I would suggest deleting those accounts in the "email app"
and then restart phone ... and set those mail accounts up again ... make sure you are using the proper settings for the incoming and outgoing servers for each account ... like yahoo, of what ever services you are adding for other accounts ..

The Android operating system allows for multitasking, unlike the iPhone and better than Blackberries, however because of this, there is a need to use an app like Advanced Task Killer, I prefer "TasKiller" but they do pretty much the same thing. These apps will kill idle and not needed apps to free memory on your phone so that your phone will run quickly and smoothly. As for dragging things to the trash can, that only removes them from your homescreen, it doesn't delete them. Much like deleting a shortcut on your Windows desktop doesn't uninstall that program. In order to uninstall something, go to Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications, then select the app and uninstall it. Or you can download apps like Apex uninstaller which shorten the process and allow for batch uninstallations. Good Luck and PM me if you need more help!
