Documents to Go as default

I just bought Documents to Go, and so far love the actual program. One issue though, which I think may have more to do with the Android OS, is setting Documents to Go as the default fro opening Word/Excel/PDF/PPT files. When I try to open a Word Document (using ASTRO, DroidBox, or anything else) it asks me what app to use. The list has "Documents to Go" and "QuickOffice". If I pick "Word to Go", and tell it to use that as the default, it works. However if I then try to open a different file type (say an Excel file) it attempts to open it with Word to Go and obviously gives an error about it being the wrong/unsupported file. If I remove Word to Go as the deafult handler, I can then go back to the Excel file, attempt to open it, and select Sheets to Go, it works.

So, first, how do I remove QuickOffice as an option (it shows up under Manage Apps, but there is no option to remove it)?

Second, how do I set Word to Go as the default for .doc/.docx file types, Sheets to Go the default for .xls/.xlsx?

Yes, but that puts me right back in the same position of having to choose between Word to Go/Sheets to Go and QuickOffice every time I open a file. As long as I have no default app set, things work, albeit requiring more user interaction. The problem is only that if I set Word to Go/Sheets to Go as the default for their respective filetypes, it because the default for all Documents to Go filetypes. That is, if I open an Excel file and set Sheets to Go as the default for opening, Sheets to Go seems to get set as the default for not only .xls files but also .doc and .ppt files, which for obvious reasons causes issues.

You don't. When you've cleared defaults, the next time you open a file with that extension, you should get a pop-up that lets you pick between apps and a checkbox to tick that makes whichever program you choose the default.

Yes. I know. When I mark that checkbox and select "Word to Go", Word to Go because the default for .doc files. But it ALSO becomes the default for .xls files, and .ppt files. So when I then go to open a .xls or .ppt file, it tries to open it with Word to Go, which fails.

That is the root of this whole problem...

Oh, I see, my bad. Haven't had much experience with Documents to Go since I find it rather bloated. Good luck with finding a solution, I guess; sucks that the app is considered a single entity instead of four.

I use DTG mainly for worksheets. But just tried your problem.
I have Sheets to go as my default for spreadsheets. I then e-mailed a .doc file and it asked what program to use. I choose Word to go and also made it the default for this type of file. All good.
I then opened a worksheet and it went to my default app that is sheet to go. So I don't understand why your having this issue.
Have you tried clearing the defaults and then opening each file type and choosing the default? Maybe something got messed up and needs to be reset.

Seems to only happen when I try to open files useing ASTRO. I've switched to another file browser, and everythign now works fine.

newb here - with D2G or sheets to go - can you make a shortcut to a specific file so you can simply tap that shortcut and it opens the file via d2g or whatever/

Can't figure out how to create a shortcut to a data file - doc/excel/pdf etc?

I accidentally set OfficeSuite as my default!
