Superoneclick and ICS on S2

Have a dilemma and hoping someone can help.

Searched high and low for what should be a short answer to a simple question but couldn't find anything on the tiniterwebs.

I managed to root my S2 using Superoneclick - if you haven't tried already i say go for it, most success stories with this are with the S2 on Gingerbread.

However, today i am being prompted by Kies to update and i am guessing it's ICS. However, will Superoneclick be able to root my phone again? As i understand it, updating will make me lose root, but is Superoneclick ICS compatible?? Please help!:)

I don't have any experience with Superoneclick, other than helping users whose handsets it messed up. You can easily root v.4.0.x using CF-Root though - see the link in the Rooting Guide in the All Things Root sub-forum.

Thanks so much and thanks for moving the thread to a more relevant forum.

I updated to ICS now. Looks fab - although it's so slow! I can confirm that root has gone (of course) and Superoneclick also failed to root it (though it worked beautifully when i was on 2.4.5).

Anyway, i'm about to brave rooting as suggested by Slug. Can anyone confirm that if i have kernal version ......XWLP7-CL...etc, do i use XW XEN LP7 or DX XTC LP7? Or will none of these work for my S2? I will report back if someone points me in the right direction what happens :D

ps sorry for being such a noob!!

Forget that - chose the first one, used odin and BINGO! ICS and rooted - so happy :D

Anyone needs help from a total noob just let me know. Was easy peesy so as long as you can follow instructions and take your time, you will have an even more awesome phone than before.

Thanks again slug for the useful pointer for rooting.

SWEET!
