Root New Beta ESE53 2.1 ROM - Elegance

Hey guys and gals,

So I know that there are a ton of roms out there and seems like more and more keep popping up everyday. Yesterday, I ran across this at AllDroid and I wasn't going to try it cause I thought the screenshots looked ugly...still do actually. You really have to put this on your phone to see how nice it looks.

Looks aside, this is a very fluid rom and the performance has been great for me (about 24 hours with it so far). WiFi Tethering is broken but like the title says, it's still a Beta. I was just so impressed with it that I had to check out what everyone was saying over here...and didn't see it posted...so here it is!

Here is my main homescreen and lockscreen. Looks much better without the horrible, "un-elegant" looking clock they show in the screenshots over all AllDroid.

It's actually from a wallpaper app found in the market. The app's name is "Wallpapers" and the dev is Mabilo Android Team. If you search the market for "Wallpaper", it will be the first app found.

Inside the app: Go to Categories > Android and it is on the 2nd or 3rd page. I then downloaded it to my sd card, resized it, and what you see is the final result.

I just don't get all this ROMming. I loaded BB 2.1 (v0.7) today and had to repopulate my home screens, reload all my apps, redo all the settings... I don't see how some of you guys have the time or patience to do all that multiple times for multiple ROMs. Am I doing something complicated or is that just how you roll?

I love the theme but the ROM isn't anything special, it just a themed ROM basically. I know why wifi tether doesn't work on it. They need to get the su binaries from a ERE25 ROM like Pete's or SS and push them to their respective locations.

I know...it is not at all necessary to flash from one rom to the next. Some of us actually enjoy screwing with our phone this much but I am a "learn by doing" kind of guy. I have learned so much about Android, ADB, etc. by flashing various roms and trying different apps.

One thing I would mention is that I can flash to a new rom and be 100% set up with my screens the way I like em, apps installed, email configured in about 30 minutes (max). I now use Titanium Backup (the free version...haven't donated...perhaps I should). I can use that application to "batch" install my apps and also revert my settings. It's not perfect and the donate version is probably better but for now, it works.

True, the guys who created the rom had first created the Metamorph theme named "Elegance" and this rom is just a ESE53 rom with the theme on top. SS is a good rom (I heard the updated version is great), BB is always solid, but this rom seems to be as smooth as I've seen. Could just be a perceived thing...but I like it. I am anxiously awaiting the "Dark Minimalist" theme and this is along the same lines IMO. Hopefully there will be some good updates to this to get it tweaked and I will probably have my new default.

Yes Dark Minimalism is what I dream about at night....well not really but I can't wait for it to be ready. I wish that <Droid or whatever his name is would release a ESE53 compatible MM for the Elegance theme.

I can't wait for it to be ready either. It looks pretty slick and I just think the simplistic/minimalist designs look great with the way the android OS is set up.

I flashed Chevy's 2.0.2 rom last night and on one hand, it looks really good with the 3D icons and the smoked glass theme but I didn't think it looked as clean and kind of felt like it was too much eye candy (maybe "clunky" is a good word).

I did revert back and I am still running Elegance. I like the rom and it is treating me well. I ran versions of BB for so long that I think I'm just numb to all things "smoked glass" right now. Stock looks like crap in my opinion so honestly, I am running Elegance for the theme as much as anything. All these builds seem pretty much like the same rom with a different theme applied anyway.

Running AdamZ kernel @ 1.2GHz (lowest voltage) right now (Stress test as we speak...testing it out). Getting benchmarks of 150-160 pretty consistantly and have only had one reboot thus far during a previous stress test after about 5 minutes into it. All in all, petty stable thus far. Max temp on stress test seems to be about 135F which I viewed immediately after ending the test. I was reading 156F in the notification bar and wanted to make sure that was NOT a correct reading.
