What's a worthy replacement?

I have read that too. To be honest, I have been looking at the screen intensely and it really is truly beautiful. The 720p is crystal clear. Watching videos is an immense experience. It completely blows anything Ive ever seen out of the water (ive never looked at the One X screen).

thanks, I think I've just about decided!
Now what about rooting, any different, easier/more difficult? Any decent AOSP roms? The Omega Rom looks nice, better than stock?

cheers the man!

There's a sticky root guidelines on xda. Use that, it's better than the one here. You may have to install kies for driver's. Samsungs HTC sync basically.

Cm9 is in nightly ATM. Also, aokp is there, but Samsung roms like omega have so many cool features that I'm not going aosp.
Cheers fella, looks like its a case of flash a few and see what I like - fun times are ahead!

after seeing it in the flesh and SU's comments I'm all but sold on the SGS3. One question is the screen - every ones says this screen is inferior to the One X. I couldn't tell, but I do read alot of books, would this be worse on the S3? Would I even notice?

If you want the SGS3 i would advise you not to even look at the One X screen, everyone who has compared them side by side will tell you that the One X screen is better.
I have compared both side by side & until they drastically improve amoled technology i could never go back to it.

Haven't played with them side by side, so can't really comment on which is better. However, I used my new HOX for the commute for the first time today, with my ebook reader set to night mode (hangover from the Desire to save battery).

The text and the screen was truly awesome. The black screen of the ebook background blended in with the curved black edge of the glass. As the white case is set back from the glass, the white text looked like it was floating on a pool of oil with no bezel. Was a pleasure to use and read.

Note of caution on the HOX though - there is a big over-excited thread building up over on XDA on a hardware issue over the wifi antenna. HTC have acknowledged it - some quality issue in manufacturing. Don't really know how many handsets are affected - and apparently changes have been made so it doesn't happen to future handsets. Mine seems OK though.

It is a superb phone, looks great, updates are coming from HTC which promises a performance boost (damn your benchmarks SUroot :)), but I couldn't in clear conscious recommend one until these new handsets make it to market.

Not had a single one of the problems that have been mentioned on any of the One X threads on xda, also i will also say mine is also one of the ht23 batch.
Battery life i am getting is between 40 & 48 hours per charge.
I also quite often get around 5 hours + screen on time & a day of use between charges with heavy use.
Eagerly awaiting the new update to see how much longer i can get out of my phone.

I too have myself a shiny new S3, got it 8 days ago and so far, loving it, for about 5 months I was using ICS on my Desire (which was 80% fantastic) and I sort of forgot what it was like to have a really snappy phone haha, I was used to the odd freeze or stutter, so coming to the S3, I got that wow factor all over again... which was nice. Not a huge fan of Touchwiz and they seriously include way too much bloat, even on my unbranded handset, but other than that, so far, can't really fault it for anything

Oh and I got mine from Mobiles.co.uk, T-Mobile (which i've since discovered, seem to have amazing mobile data literally anywhere in the country, odd considering I was on Orange before and it was utter rubbish and they are supposed to use the same network),

Yeah if rooted. The rom I'm on has an installer that you can choose what to remove

Well its here! Wow its awesome - really!

On hold waiting to transfer my number. Don't want to spend too long playing and setting up cos its getting the root treatment in approx 20mins ;););)

Whats the omega rom like Su? Have you got a case? tempted by a barely there again, just until the novelty where off then it can be naked!

Omega is fine. Its not far from stock. Some tweaks make it smoother and a pleasure to use. Definitely recommend the Siyah kernel too.

No case. Nekked.

Edit > May as well set it up, you can flash Omega without a wipe from stock! Get stuck in!!!
Cheers SU...
Oh cool, in laws turned up last night and put the rooting on hold for the night. Going to the gym for a couple of hours then I'll crack on. Waiting for my 32gb SD to turn up to...

I spoke to the network specialist team after speaking to normal cust. Services and she basically said that there is rubbish coverage in my area with no planned upgrades and a three home signal would be the answer but I cant have one as i am sim only.

She also said I would need unlimited data on my home broadband!! She didn't know how much it data it actually uses though.

I have compared the One x and SGS3 alongside each other streaming the exact same video clip at the same time. BOTH are stunning. The SGS3 is marginally sharper the colour contrast on the OneX is marginally better. Having done the test I am still 50/50. Performance in daylight might push me towards the OneX but it's too close to call.
