Evo 4G screen too dark outdoors

You should try turning off auto brightness, setting the screen to max and then try viewing outdoors, just in case auto brightness is malfunctioning. Unfortunately, the screen will never be near as good in direct sunlight as newer phones like the LTEvo or GS3, that's a product of its almost 3 year old technology. I've never had serious issues with it, but I come from older pda's and winmo phones that were all but unusable in direct sunlight. I found it good enough to dial the phone and with a little squinting, look up an address. Good luck!

I have my Evo 4G for about 1 year. My biggest issue is that the screen is too dark when I go outdoors. I can barely see anything on the screen. The display brightness has been set as automated brightness. It works fine indoors.

I am wondering if there is a way to improve the visibility outdoors.

Try the app lux from the play store. Turn off system auto brightness and adjust lux to dynamic setup. It seems to be much better at screen brightness management than stock.
