but they are one in the same... the OTA and what you manually used are identical.

ok but i'm not sure if this is a problem with the live wallpaper and all but i do not have 5 screens nor the revised app drawer and when i long press apps in the app drawer to put them on the home screen the icon moves everywhere. you can see what i mean by opening something; try scrolling, then keep your finger still and then you can see the page wiggling up and down, that's what happens when i move around shortcuts

you dont have 5 screens because there arent 5 screens in ESE81, just 3 like usual. and the app draw has not changed either. as far as the other wiggling...i have no idea what you are talking about. sorry.

Question: My buddy just forced the 2.1 ese81 update and now he wants to root.
Can he go back to 2.01 just by doing a factory reset?
then follow the normal root procedures. I hate to give him any advice before he has the ability to do a nandroid backup.

factory reset will only take you to the clean startup of your current rom. so no that will not take him back to 2.0.1

im so glad i stuck with root, this forum is nuts with people who wanna go back and are dissappointed. i just watched the 2.1 walkthrough and it sucks! jeez not even the 3d app drawer? thats like the only thing the would want that i dont have. its terrible.

I was a ROMaholic and I'm happy with the official 2.1 update ONLY because it has just enough cool features to keep me pacified. Afterall, I was mainly rooting/roming for the LWP, gallery, and improved browser and the official 2.1 has all of those things. Sure, I'll miss the custom themes, cache mate, Launcher2 etc but I'd much rather be plain vanilla stock 2.1 than to become a ROMaholic again. I have no discipline.
