Should I trade my One S for a Galaxy SIII?

Got an offer to trade in my One S for a Galaxy SIII (White 16GB version). I'm torn on whether or not I should pull the trigger. I love the camera on the One S and I know it's not as good on the SGS3. However, I would love to have the extra storage, larger screen and removable battery. What do you guys think?

I would wait 5 weeks. There are rumors of a One X+ on TMo coming in October that, IMO, smokes the GS III. There is also likely a new Nexus device coming on 11/5. I would wait until then and decide.

That would be a difficult choice. I personally don't like TouchWiz UI, and I love the size of my One S. Where are you geting this offer from?

5 weeks is a long time to wait when you don't even know if anything is coming out then and if it's better.

My wife and daughter use the One S and I use a Galaxy S3. Both are nice phones.

You hit the differences. It's going to come down to a personal decision.

The replaceable battery, add on memory and larger/different screen are the main differences. The launcher is replaceable so I don't personally really have a problem with touchwiz vs sense.

I can tell you there have been times where my wife and daughter would loved to have been able to swap out a dead battery. That's probably the big one for me.

Both each have their own little bugs/issues and both have the same CPU, so speed is about the same on each.

I saw on TmoNews that the OneX+ looks like it may have been scrapped or is indefinitely delayed. Either way, it's a straight up one for one trade with a co-worker of mine. I'm not going to wait more than a month to let them know my decision. Both of our phones are in like new condition so it really does come down to preference.

Yeah, the launcher and overall UI makes no difference if I flash another ROM so the fact that one has Sense and the other TouchWiz really doesn't matter. I like the screen size of the One S but I'm ready for a change again. I was REALLY hoping for the One X+ but I think that's out of the question. Even if it does come out sometime, by the time it does there will be something different anyway. Plus, it still probably won't have a microSD card slot and removable battery so it still comes down to the same issues anyway.

Like I said though, it would be nice to have that extra storage capability and the ability to carry around an extra battery since I do use my phone a lot for taking pictures and that really eats up the battery.

Oh, one more thing, I'm not paying anything, we'd just be swapping phones straight up, so there's no REAL need to wait anyway. If the One X+ does come out I suppose I could still sell the SGS3 and buy that one.

Well... I guess I just answered my question then. I'll pull the trigger and see if something better comes along soon. I'd love to go back to Nexus but they REALLY need to come out with better cameras. Thanks everyone!

A TMobile branded One X+ picture was leaked yesterday so it might not be much longer.

Waiting is tough, there is always something new. They are already talking about the Galaxy SIV in February.

God am I glad I read this one...

Why in #*!! would they even make a phone with a SD slot! The battery thing would be a major change for me, as I walk out of the house in the morning with 4-6 batteries in my pocket. (I am a service tech, I have to take pics of my jobs. My phone and camera HAVE to work, and it has to work NOW, without it telling me 'no flash' or other nonsense) I'm usually not far from the truck, so I COULD adapt, if I had to. But no SD? I thought only Apple was that chicken$#!^...

Yeah, those are the only two drawbacks of the One S that I've found. Other than those it is the best phone I've had, and I've had a lot of them. If they would've combined this with what they had with the Nexus One (by putting back the removable battery and SD card slot), it would have been just about perfect.

I traded it away already. I had the GNex also but got the One S to replace that in May. At first I regretted that but after a month or so I was happier with the One S overall. Lately though I've been doing a lot of travelling and haven't had data connection so not having that extra storage space to store music and videos has been a drag. Hopefully this "new" SGS3 works out better. The way I see it is it's like a GNex with a better camera.

Just FYI. If you install dropbox on your phone all your pictures are automatically uploaded to your computer so there is no chance of losing them. Once theyre uploaded I delete them.

Just an update for anyone else thinking about leaving the One S like I did.

There are the aforementioned pluses to the SGSIII such as the added storage through the use of a microSD card and the removable battery. Overall, it's a REALLY nice phone; however, there are two things I miss greatly on the One S. Number one is the camera. The camera on the HTC One series is hands down the best. The camera on the Galaxy is better than Vanilla and probably really the second best camera I've ever used for a phone but it doesn't compare to the One S at all. Second is the Beats audio. I have the Beats Tour headset, I thought by switching phones that it wouldn't matter too much about the integrated Beats audio since I had the headset. I was dead wrong. The sound on the One S with the Tour headset was amazing. The sound on the SGSIII with the same headset is just, good. Even when trying to adjust the sound with the equalizer it still doesn't come close.

If I would've went straight to the SGSIII from any of the Nexus devices it would have been fine but using those features on the One S really got me spoiled. Everything else is either better on the SGS3 or is at least equal. One nice thing is that there are better and more readily available accessories for the SGS3 than the One S. Hope this helps anyone who is thinking about another phone.
