Installing Android on fake iPhone 4

First time poster here, but with a question that might benefit quite a few people.

I recently bought a fake iPhone 4 in China, and I'm trying to see if I can get Android installed on it. I don't know too much about hacking phones, so I'd appreciate it if someone with more experience could point me in the right direction to get started.

I know my phone has a MT6235 processor commonly found in many Chinese phones (it has an ARM architecture). I'm not sure what kind of OS it is currently running, but it is really crappy and is neither iOS nor Android. The phone is a dual SIM card phone.

What typically is the procedure for flushing out the existing OS and installing Android?

Welcome to the Android Forums, that's a really good question. I bet if we can figure out what model your phone is we may be able to see if it's hackable/how easy it would be to put Android on it. The thing that really matters is a dev would need to own the same phone, and depending on what model you have it may not have been tried yet.

I dont think there is a typical procedure, it varies from phone to phone. Android doesnt come ready to run with a variety of drivers for various hardware, like, say, windows or linux. It has to be customised for the specific hardware youre running it on, which requires the extensive efforts of Clever People.

First step is, i would say, try to find some kind of forum specific to your phone and see if anyone is working on porting android to it. Youre going to need a name, model number, manufacturer or something though.

Edit: erm, in other words, what B2L said...

Sorry I looked and couldn't find anything to try to help you install Android on that device:(
You could possible check over here iSource: #1 Source for iPad, iPhone, iPod, Mac and Apple TV and perhaps gain some insight on how to make the phone better for your needs.
I tried :pcguru:

Hi all,

I am very new to this.
I know my way around a computer/mobiles only a small amount, but enough to follow instructions or receive guidence :)

I recently purchased a fake chinese iphone 4S whilst in Chile. No instructions type of thing. The box says YI HAO on the front. I have googled this but come up with nothing at all.

Pardon my ignorance for the information I am about to provide. I know the phone is running a verision of Android and it looks similar to IOS on my iphone 3gs but obviously it is not. Also even though I have changed the language to English it alot of the screens/settings are still in Chinese.

Also although there is no sim card in the phone it keeps receiving text messages, from random numbers and all of the text within the message is in Chinese, the phone is connect via wifi so this must be why ( but it is really annoying)

in the about phone screen it says ( only included releveant info below )

Android Version @2131167117
Model Number Android 2.3.6
Device Serial number 7GXA14DP0N
Wi-FI MAC address ****************
IMEI information ****************
ICCID **** **** **** **** ****
Modem Firmware 05.15.68

* = there are numbers but dont think they are relevant to my problem

First and foremost, can I replace the current operating system with an full English one ?

also does anyone know how I go about actually finding out what phone I have, the processor etc? As I got a feeling that this might come in handy to know when trying to change anything on the phone.

Again sorry for my ignorance and I hope someone can assist me. It would be really appriciated.

Thanks

Sorry,

I dont know if I should mention that the phone already has Play Store installed ? And as I mentioned is skinned up to look like IOS so I am guessing also has what you would typically find on this type of device. But to be completely honest I have no Idea.

Also in the about phone screen, it says Total Space 32G, however the SD card is only an 8GB card, so I think this is untrue, which makes me think that other information in the about phone screen could also be untrue.

I am starting to think my best option would be to wipe the phone and begin from scratch, but to be honest I no idea where to begin with this.... please help, all suggestions welcome

MoDaCo started a thread about covering Chinese phones. So far it's just suggestions:

China brands - what do you want to see - Android General Discussion - MoDaCo

Thank you again for trying to steer me in the right direction.

I have been doing some reading online, I do not claim to know alot.

But it seems if I "root" my phone and re-install the English version of android I will get my desired effect ?

Please can someone maybe explain what this means and where I can find instructions on how to do it correctly. I have searched but am a little confused. I am savvy enough to be able to follow instructions and gain an understanding. ( I think haha )

Thank you

You have to know exactly which phone you have to root and put a ROM on it.

Thank you :)

If I open the phone up, do you think this will give me an indication? As I can not seem to find any other method of telling which phone I have. I didnt want to open up the phone without a reason. But to be fair the bac kcase is lightly glued on so not that difficult.

Ok, so taking off the back case has not helped me at all. There is only another plastic cover, do not want to take that off as it could potentially break something I do not want to break.

surely there must be a way to find out what phone I have? All suggestions deeply appriciated.
