Google Now directions to work - the long way round

One of the more annoying things about Google Now (there are a few but I'm sticking with it and hoping it gets better) is the route it sends me to work.

I've a 25 mile journey but somehow its turned it 40 buy taking a huge detour half way through the route. It's as if it seems to think a road is closed and takes 10 miles to drive what should be 1!

Is there some way to clear this? Every day before I head to work etc it tells me the journey will take over an hour when it won't. It's getting really annoying.

All I want to do is get it to go the right way, which it did at first

get on google mapmaker and see if there is a problem with the road that needs to be fixed.
or let me know where it detours and I'll see what I can find.

PS I just noticed you are in UK. I don't know if mapmaker is available in UK - but I am guessing it is.

Apparently it's not available in the UK. I'm sure the route used to work and in fact when I use Google Maps (pc or phone) to give me the route it uses that road just fine.

I'm hoping there's a way to clear the route and let it relearn?
