CyanogenMod 10 Stable Build

While folks are now craving the Android 4.2 flavor of Jelly Bean, those of you faithful to CyanogenMod will be happy to know that the custom ROM finally has a stable build of Jelly Bean to sink your teeth into. It’s a long time coming, but if you know CyanogenMod then you know they don’t like to put the stable stamp on something until it’s just that — stable.

I know, I know — it’s tough to get excited when you know other developers are going to turn the Android 4.2 code around almost right away, but the stability of the CM experience should prove more valuable for those who don’t want to stray from what they know best. The CyanogenMod servers look to be getting hammered right now as folks are likely checking for news about the team’s plans on getting 4.2 out, but if you happen to get a download going be sure to let us know how you’re liking CM10 after you’re finished flashing it. -Phandroid

I tried flashing slim bean and liquid smooth the other day... Both of them hung on the boot animation. I reflashed them both and they hung again, so I'm back on jedi mind trick. I might just give this a shot.

I got to say that even the nightlies feel like a stable rom. Been with them for a while and have not had many problems. Now that the stable is out it also looks pretty good all the stuff is working. Personally I will stay with the nightly train because of the fixes that come for the mms and the file manager which are really the primary things getting patched. Also the thing that I really enjoy is the automatic update where I do not have to manually flash stuff any more which makes life soo much easier. For other roms not to hang in the loading screen there needs to be a dark side cash and super wipe done before the rom is flashed. I have tried many of them and nothing seems to be as good as CM 10.

Hmmm that is strange my camera is working just fine I am on the nightly and have not tested the stable just yet. I have had times where the camera will not connect and I have to relaunch the app but that usually fixes it. Hopefully that is not a widely spread bug coz camera is important it takes crappy pictures and you can always count on that.

Bah. I started over. I read that Darkside Superwipe is necessary - doing it manually just causes it to hang on the boot animation. So I used Darkside Superwipe, flashed the ROM, Darkside Cachewipe and I'm itching to play with my phone NOW!

I am assuming that the 10.0.0 is the stable mod. Once you are on any cynogenmod that supports the update features you should be able to switch to a nightly at your own risk. They are pretty stable so it is really no problem. Is you want to go to a nightly go to settings about phone and cynogenmod updates and change the option to look for all updates including nightlies.

If you want to stay on the stable you do not have to flash anything else just flash the stable. Once you are on the cm train you do not need to flash any more because of the update feature they put in.

This is up to you if you like the stable and don't care about nightlies don't do it. If you want to get on that train. But once you flash it should all be functional! Let me know if you want to do nightlies and I will take some screen shots and show ya

So I have a new T-Mobile galaxy s2 today...so is this the best cm10 ROM I asking cause I saw a bunch of other cm10 nightly roms I didn't download anything because I just got this phone today...so what is the Best CM10 ROM ?

Here is a little explanation for you eric and I have not forgotten you kepong I am going to get the screenies up tonight.

- First I have not been able to welcome you to the forums - I see you have 80 posts but still welcome.

Next, CM10 - it is the Cyanogenmod team's latest release - 10 - which refers to the Jellybean operating system on Android (or the 10th release). Usually there are a couple versions that run concurrently as the guys from the cyanogenmod team work to bring us the newest and greatest updates.

1. The first the nightly updates - these are considered usually pretty stable and are for more advanced users who can deal with the bugs. These are the main testing tool for the cyanogenmod developers and they receive bug reports which eventually make it into the final release.

2. Experimental - experimental releases are ones that have something major usually changed that the developers need tested - they can be both stable and not so much so but are exclusively meant for the advanced user and or developer.

3. Stable release - this is one of the later releases which is a combination of many nightlies and a lot of testing on the advanced users to create a stable rom which should not crash or experience major problems. For example at the beginning of CM10 there were random reboots or a point at which the phone would go into permanent sleep and you had to take out the battery and reboot it to start back up. Those were absolutely cleared in the stable and there has been no problems with them since.

4. Release candidates - these are stable versions of the rom which are considered user ready but still get bugs ironed out usually there are 3 or 4 before the final release. Final release I believe is a time at which the development team is confident that most bugs are fixed and they are able to start to focus their effort more exclusively on bringing us the newer version.

All releases are part of the cyanogenmod however some are more stable than others. With the self updating roms that we have now there is no more recovery flashing and no more constant backing up (even though you should always make a backup). Nightly stable rc or final they are all part of the CM10 (if they are jellybean that is).
