I want to root and s off my Desire HD and put Jellytime on it, but I don't really know where to start. I'm quite computer literate but have no experience with Android. Can anybody tell me how to do this?

use AAHK (advance ace hack kit) it's one click operation and very important is to read the manual..and your phone must bi bootloader locked, otherwise it wont work..disable antivirus, defender, firewall, disable everything on your windows or the easy way, use ubuntu live cd..

ok, i see, you are new here than probably is locket..
a don't know how to run ubuntu from flash drive, i read about that and they say that is easy way to root you phone, i use windows 7 and everything was grate..
and believe me it's easy, just read manual and fallow instruction

Yes you can run ubuntu from a flash drive, did it myself last week and successfully rooted and flashed my first ROM. Follow the steps carefully and its hard to go wrong.
