4G LTE in Frankenmuth, MI

I don't think their maps show this, but could be wrong as their coverage maps show way too close of color for each individual thing (LTE, native CDMA, roaming, etc.) I was in Frankenmuth for the weekend and received LTE service the whole time... I was shocked to have 4G LTE service with MetroPCS in Frankenmuth (small town.) Well done MetroPCS...

Probably because Frankenmuth is a tourist area even though small. Bronners Christmas store and the town is referred to as Little Bavaria... lots of little shops and stores... two famous chicken dinner restaurants and more including the large hotel with many things there. They get a lot of people traffic through there each day all year long. When I had MetroPCS six years ago and was in Frankenmuth there was no service at all (I had my tmo back up phone with me) but they have really expanded coverage. And all throughout the metro detroit area their coverage and service is pretty strong these days.

Yeah, the pimp is in town, ha ha... Anyways, the speed wasn't that great, but enough to do basic tasks like uploading photos to Facebook, emails, google searches, etc... I was getting on average about 500Kbps download and 2Mbps upload... The crazy thing about getting 4G there was I asked the people at the front desk of the hotel I was staying at if they knew if anyone else had 4G, and was told they hadn't heard of any carrier in the area offering it... They actually had a surprised look when I showed them my 4G on the phone itself... I also asked some people while waiting in line at T Dubs (great fricken pizza by the way) that were local to the area, and they stated they weren't aware of anyone offering 4G as they were sitting on their Androids, Iphones, etc... I showed them my 4G symbol and some faces lit up, ha ha... Anyways, cool to know there is something better than 1xrtt in such a small town that I do like to visit whenever possible :)
