How long did you take to fully charge your Nexus 4? Mine is damn slow.

Hey, today I just tested my Nexus 4 16gb. It was depleted and couldn't even start up on my first try.

I plugged in the wall charger and it took around 10-15 minutes and it started at 1%. I was playing around with it while it auto-installs my old apps (I used the old google account).

After around 1 hour, unbelievably, its still around 3-5%. It got me worried so I start recording it on a paper. Here is my stats.

1.51pm 5%
in between here I played with it a while. no more than 5 minutes.
4.20pm 51%
4.50pm 62%
6.31pm 94%

Is this normal? Should I asked for a new unit? Do I have to pay for postage to send it back?

When you are charging from the wall, check in your battery status to see if it says AC charging or USB charging (settings>battery). I've had mine plugged in a wall outlet before and for some reason it was in USB charging mode. I unplugged at the wall then plugged back in and it went back to AC charging.

It takes hours to charge via USB, I can go a full day at work and its still not charged sometimes.

I think I read somewhere that the N4 is supposed to charge fully in 3 hours using the wall charger that comes with it.

It does take a long time with the lower power you get from a USB connected to a PC - I guess because the N4 uses quite a chunk of power, particularly if the screen is on.

When I used my Desire as a GPS in my car, it usually came out fully charged whereas my N4 doesn't - it seems to use all the power it draws. I actually thought the car charger wasn't working, but the phone does show it's getting power.

What car charger do you use? Mine actually uses AC charging when in the car so that battery always charges even while using as GPS.

I've started using one of these
PowerGen Dual USB 3.1A 15w Car Charger for Apple iPad 1 2 3, iPhone 4s 4 3 3Gs, Amazon Kindle Fire DX KeyBoard, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Google Nexus 7 (USB Cable NOT included) - BLACK: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Don't forget to use a decent cable, or you can expect the cable's resistance to affect charge rate.
