Which of these gives the most relief?

A: The feeling of a headache going away after taking a asprin/advil/whatever.

B: The feeling of getting into bed when you're dead tired.

C: You're sick to your stomach/guts, and, well, you relieve yourself(up or down)

Which of these do you think gives the most psychological relief upon the physical relief? Im truly curious, because God knows I've suffered all three, and I really don't know which one of those situations makes me feel better "the most". Thoughts?

For me it's overwhelmingly C. I've been suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (specifically IBS-D) for most of my adult life. Right now it's so debilitating that I can't go to work or social functions.

Part of the disease is bad abdominal cramps and bloating. Many of the toxins in my waste become dissolved by the water that fills my gut, and are forced back into my bloodstream by reverse osmosis. When this happens, I can get terrible leg pain and headaches. And voiding those toxins from my system makes me feel better almost instantly. That's definitely physical relief.

I also get explosive diarrhea suddenly, with no warning. So the psychological fear of soiling myself is no small matter! When I get my relief while sitting on the toilet, that is a big psychological relief too!

A is a close second. As a kid, I got some pretty bad headaches. Not so much any more, but still...

Speed D.. TMI!!!! sorry for what you are going through.

going to bed after a long hard day... is awesome.. or when you get home from a long business trip and going to bed. miss my bed!

but.. going to relieve yourself.. when your tummy is full.. and in pain.
has to be the must relief!
you are driving home .. long commute... and have to go .. but have to hold it..
it starts to feel sooooo uncomfortable... the closer you get to the toilet the worse it gets... you cant even get your pants off fast enough.
....................... aaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww. RELIEF!
THIS IS THE MOST RELIEF OF ALL 3.

Have to agree with option C.

With A, although it is a relief, it is a slow dissipation of pain, where you eventually become aware that you are no longer in pain. Not so much a relief as an absence. Awesome that you're not feeling pain anymore.

With B, yes it's a relief, and feels awesome because you still feel tired and are aware that you no longer have to stand up, work, stay awake and can just relax. Awesome sweet blend of aching pain and comfort.

With C, it is a relief, pure and simple. A relief that you didn't sh!t yourself on the way. Not at all awesome, but the biggest relief by far.

Just messin with ya. :)
Seriously, that sounds terrible to have to deal with. I often have a really sensitive stomach when eating out at restaurants and have to run to the bathroom myself.
Thanks for that!

I've been politely silent on the issue for over a decade, and frankly I've gotten fed up by society, and even the medical community dismissing this as no big deal. Like I'm supposed to be able to control it or something. This is the first time outside of my doctor's office (or in private conversation with those who are closest to me) that I've spoken plainly about it. People with Crohn's get all the sympathy. Now I want my share! ;)

Thanks all for your understanding. :)

A: The feeling of a headache going away after taking a asprin/advil/whatever.

I don't like taking drugs, especially pain killers. They don't get rid of the headache. It's still there, they just replace it with whole body numbness. The way I deal with a headache is I go to sleep.

B: The feeling of getting into bed when you're dead tired.

I don't get that tired. Getting to bed when I have a headache gives me relief.

C: You're sick to your stomach/guts, and, well, you relieve yourself(up or down)

I get the occasional upset stomach, more so than the other two. I would say this gives me the most relief. I can still function somewhat with a headache or when I'm tired. I cannot with an upset stomach until I relieve myself.

Speaking of headaches, I'm surprised that nobody mentioned hangovers. It's been a while, but I can remember "the day after" as being the hurt, feeling better, realizing that I feel better but how bad I still feel, but how much better I feel compared to an hour ago. Not that much relief, because it often takes sooooo llloooooonnnnnggggg...

never get headaches...ever...don't think I have ever really even ever had one..!!! even hungover!!!.....odd I know
however, I used to get what I called "my stomach" The pain was awful...and I have a high pain tolerance..trust me...but I would literally be in a fetal position in pain with much of the same symptoms you describe minus the explosive D..

Have gone to the ER 3 maybe 4 times? throughout my life...other times I just suffered curled up in a ball....vomiting from the pain... it's AWFUL I KNOW!!! was diagnosed at different times with "possible" PID...or maybe.. IBS..and yet another.. again... possibly Chrones..or ....maybe...food allegy....etc..blah blah...

here is the interesting thing...
since I have been vegetarian (maybe 4 years?) I have not had any symptoms...at all!!!

I am NOT SAYING YOU SHOULD GO VEG!!!!!!!:)

I just thought it was a strange correlation...but in any case, I know it sucks:eek:
I'm sorry...
