For the phone nuts who are new to Android, do you already have your initial app list picked out? Your "Must Have's"? What are they?

I'm going to be new to Android myself coming from a BB Curve and am debating whether or not I want to start picking things out before I have the phone in hand.

What else are you all doing now that the phone is officially a reality? Now that the phone has a tangible release date, have you started pre-prepping your wallpapers or will you be going with the live ones for the immediate future?

I'll be new to Android as well but I don't have a list of apps picked out. Mainly because I just can't access a list, with details or pricing online. Yes, I know there are forums, even a sub-forum here, that review apps, but it would be nice to have a live searchable database! :(

Then again it will give me more time to just play and learn the phone when I do get my hands on it.

Go to appbrain.com

You can look through apps (with prices) and choose which ones you'll want. The best part is that you can set up your phone to download all the apps you have on your list on appbrain.

Yeah, that's a great site.

AndroLib, Find all applications and games available in the Android Market for your Android Phone, HTC Dream, HTC Magic etc...

Is also another good one. It has QR codes you can scan with your phone that will automatically bring you to the app in the store.

Xoji, your best just waiting. You cant really eval an app till you run it on your phone. For me its really like d/l one and see if you like it. I have deleted more apps than I have kept

Yeah, I agree, although a little browsing never hurt either. :) Although I was pleased to see that you can "try out" a paid app for 24 hours and then uninstall and get a refund, which makes the market more appealing than say... another company's.

I have been doing a lot of this recently now that the device (feels wrong to call it just a phone) is "official" from big V, have a folder of all the backgrounds that I want to transfer over, downloaded handbrake to convert my stuff, and built a secondary music folder for what I'll want to put on the device. I also grabbed the SDK and set it up in an XP VM, I'm a hobbyist coder and *MAY* try to make an app for work to impress the bosses.

As far as apps, I'm going to wait until I have the actual unit to sort all that out, you really can't know what you want IMO until you have the actual device and can start playing with stuff.

Got Google Voice ready to go as well, I already use it on my BB. The GF and I have decided on using Gchat as we will not be able to communicate with BBM anymore :( Android really needs an app like that. Hopefully Google will pony up for the servers to make that happen, or maybe there's an app for that?

I too am hoping to upgrade from the Curve. I really haven't played with sense or android much and am a little apprehensive.

I need to update/manage my address book a little more. I guess I can use the myverizon to back up my blackberry then transfer to the incredibe?

The way I understand sense is that "people" are at the center of the device and I can see all messages, etc from a certain person in my contact list. Be great to find an email quickly - provided that I have everyone's email programed. What if one contact has multiple email addresses? But is there also an e-mail widget that will show all my messages like I'm used to? seems like it would be a pain to have to scroll through all my contacts to check for new messages?

I also understand that there is only push email for gmail....what about other email accounts? Have a couple from my ISP (charter) that I would like to set up on my phone but I understand the phone will only check for new messages every 15 minutes or however often I set it to.

With my curve I set up a folder on my desktop PC and just drop stuff in there I want - wallpapers, ringtones, music, movies, etc. Then transfer all at once ....probably need to up date that.

You should download Google mobile for your blackberry. After running sync all your BB contacts will be uploaded to Google. Once you get an Android phone and log into your Google account your contacts will be there. I find it easier to update contacts via the website on a PC when you have to make multiple changes.

This is exactly what I'm doing right now. I use Google Sync on me Blackberry Storm and have it syncing my calendar and contacts. That way, I can easily work around a PC interface to set my contacts how I like them and set my schedule for the next week as well. It's pretty awesome.

Also, I have a huge.. huge list going of applications that I want to try. I can't wait to get this phone. Only 12 more days till we finally get our hands on it. :D
