Hello all, today I come to you in need of some help with my razr.

This past week it has gotten slower and slower, with EVERYTHING. When I unlock my phone to even the home screen, sometimes it takes 5 seconds to transition from the lock screen to the home screen. Opening the app drawer is much slower than ever, opening misc apps is also slow. This is not a consistent thing, its more random than anything. It will work fine for just about a whole day, and then out of no where it will just be extremely sluggish.

It is stock ICS

Any helpful insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I swear my phone is faster (or at least I have confinced myself that it is) with NOVA Launcher and Dolphin Browser that it was with stock ICS launcher. Everything else on my phone is stock.

I will be watching this thread to see if there are any suggestions, good luck

Maybe a factory reset will help

I did not, because everything was working flawlessly after the upgrade. The slowness started either Sunday or Monday this week. And my thoughts were if it were going to be from the ICS upgrade I would have noticed it immediately

but I will save that as a last resort thing if needed

I perform one a couple of times a week and it keeps my phone running smooth.

Did you do a Factory Data Reset after you did the last system upgrade?

It is unfortunately a reality that almost everyone is going to do a Factory Data Reset after a GB to ICS or ICS to JB upgrade (there are for sure a very few who won't).

None of us like doing it (you'd have to be a little nuts to enjoy it) but we did it. It gets easier each time you do it (I've done it four times now after two updates and two "test" needs).

The other benefit ... you will probably finally work out how to protect YOUR data so if YOUR phone is lost, stolen, or destroyed the data that is important to YOU is still available for YOU.

Yes, I've done factory resets after every OS update (Froyo, GB, ICS and JB) and highly recommend it. Actually, I think I've done 3 of them after the JB update alone for a variety of reasons. It does get easier the more often you do it and if you use an alternative launcher, it's not as painful because most have a backup and restore feature which makes rebuilding homescreens a breeze. Still, in my experience, running an occasional cache partition wipe helps keep your phone running at its best.
