ICS... CSC are you eligible for an update?

The CSC on my phone is I910OXXLPH. The XX is actually there, not a placeholder, and the O is not my mistake, it has O rather than 0 on the CSC version listing (although it has 0 as you would expect on the PDA and phone versions).
So this seems to be a generic CSC, non country-specific.
Also the letter O where it should be a number looks suspicious. Is this an official Samsung release? Or does it mean that the company I bought it from flashed it themselves using a leaked or pre-release version? If so it looks as if I will never be able to update. And what will be the position if I have a repair under guarantee?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums TodeW! :)

The CSC on my phone is I910OXXLPH.

Please re-check that CSC code, as I believe you will find it is...

i9100OXXLPH

So this seems to be a generic CSC, non country-specific.

Correct.

Is this an official Samsung release?

Yes

And what will be the position if I have a repair under guarantee?

As per post #1, if this is the original code that your phone was issued with... then, no problems.

It might have been helpful if you had mentioned all this in your original post!

All you need to do is to download from SamMobile, the firmware of your choice and flash it via Odin, as described in my previous post.

If your carrier is PAK then you will need to enter i9100OJV into SamMobile for the search. If not, enter i9100ODD for a range of firmwares.

Try a different carriers sim carrd in it and see if it works.

If your phone has previously been unlocked, then just changing the firmware can cause it to become sim locked again.

will any mistake brick my phone?

It should not, if done properly and correctly. However, there are no cast iron guarantees I am afraid. The choice... is yours!

Thank you for your help. as u said to try it with different sim card, i would like to give you a brief description that i have not bought this phone from samsung or by any carrier on contract basis. i have bought a second hand phone. every sim in pakistan is working on this phone and i dont know whether it has been unlocked before or not.

can you please tell me how can i check whether it is officially unlocked or not? i have tried dialing *#SIMLOCK# (*#7465625#) and the details are :

PERSONALIZATIOB STATUS

NETWORK LOCK [OFF]
NETWORK SUBSET LOCK [OFF]
SP LOCK [OFF]
CP LOCK [OFF]

so i suppose it is officially unlocked.
and also i dont know the current version of android belongs to which country.
so i want to change that version to pakistan and also want to upgrade to jelly bean.

and my confusion is whether i can upgrade to pakistan version of jelly bean or not?

Jelly Bean = Android 4.1.2

Latest firmware for OJV = XWLSD (carrier branded firmware for users of Paktel/Zong)

Latest firmware for ODD = XWLST (unbranded)

You can either...

1. Update your existing Polish firmware to i9100OXAMS1

or

2. Flash the Indian, unbranded, firmware i9100ODDLSE

or

3. Flash the Bangladesh, unbranded, firmware i9100ODDLSE

All of them will work on the i9100.

Choices 2 and 3 will give you the language packs that you will probably require.

Alternatively, you can take your phone to the nearest mobile phone shop and ask them to flash it for you.

As you said i can flash to indian or bangladesh i will do it tonight. Is there no unbranded firmware for pakistan?? And after flashing will i be able to use any network in pakistan? And also will i get any future updates by samsung officially?

The second option u suggested to go to mobile shop is too expensive. They charge thousands of rupees to upgrade the firmware and i am not in any mood to waste my money that is why i wont be opting this option.

No... otherwise I would have mentioned it!

And after flashing will i be able to use any network in pakistan?

You should be able to if your Polish firmware already connects OK

And also will i get any future updates by samsung officially?

No! See the disclaimer in #1.7 of the Dummies Guide.

Let me know how you get on. I'll have a look when I get back from my 6 month vacation to Pitcairn Island.
