Yes, I did search the forums.
Yes, I did the put all photos in .nomedia to hide the ones I don't want to see.
No, this didn't work.

Please, this is making me insane!!!

Running 2.1 on Droid.
In Gallery, I have the following NINE folders: I will list them exactly as they appear in the Gallery:

Cyanogen(mod...like) 20 Contents: thumbnails used for Beautiful widgets
Drawable (119) Contents: thumbnails used for News and Weather widget
Drawable -hdpi (7) Contents: thumbnails used for News and Weather widget
Drawable-mdpi (7) Contents: thumbnails used for News and Weather widget
RockOnNg (1) Contents: Thumbnail for This American Life from ??
Wallpaper (19) Contents: Wallpapers I have downloaded
Pictures (35) Contents: Pics I have taken with my previous phone and transferred
Camera (13) Contents: Pics I have taken with Droid, and one video taken with Droid
Camera (27) Contents: Pics and video I have taken with Droid

Only Wallpaper, Camera are listed on my SD card. NONE of these other folders are listed; the thumbnails from other programs reside in (on my SD card) DCMI and Camera folders when I look at my SD card.

You put a file in each of these folders named .nomedia? If so, disregard.

Okay, dumb question... Have you restarted your phone since you added the new content to your phone? The phone's Gallery won't recognize new folders you created until after you restart your phone. I have had instances where the Gallery doesn't see files after moving them into a different folder. So safest bet is to restart everytime you do any kind of organizing of your media files.

I had the same problem. The way I solved it was to mount my Droid to my computer, then, used my computer to reconfigure the gallery files.

Basically, I had already uploaded all pics I took with my Droid to Picasa. So what I did was, using my computer, I deleted all folders that appeared in the Gallery. Some folders that were created by apps I had installed were actually stored in other places other than the Gallery (although the pics they contained were shown in the Gallery in my Droid), so I had to peruse my SD card very thoroughly to make sure I deleted them all.

Then, I rebooted my Droid, and everything I had in Picasa synced to my Droid automatically. It's really cool. I have no pictures at all stored on my SD card, yet I have many photo albums in my Droid's Gallery. This is WAY COOL. The only difference is that when viewing pics from the Gallery, I have to wait for the picture to be rendered to see full detail, which can be a little inconvenient, but definitely worth it to save the storage space on my SD card that my photos used to occupy.

Did the reboot work for you?

I'm doing that now, but the problem I was having was my Gallery was in a continual "loading albums" step and never loaded the viewable gallery.

Still in a continual "loading" mode and the system as a whole is running slow (took forever to recover from reboot) and the temp is running over 104 degrees.

I tried this yesterday and the SDcard started acting flaky, like some apps would see it and the data on it and some won't see anything and just lock up.

What's weird is after removing the dot from the .???, it starts running smooth again...

As for the gallery, it loads everything like everything is ok...

Any other suggestions?

BTW, I'm not doing the .nomedia file method as I've tried it already and that's when the SD card started acting flaky as well.

add the .nomedia files to directories you don't want to show up in gallery. (If your using XP with file extensions being hidden yoru .nomedia file may actually be a nomedia.txt file..)
on SD card using astro or mounted to computer delete all the files in your albumthumbs folder on the sd card. reboot the phone.

next time gallery opens up it will rescan and recreate thumbnails for your photos.

I've found that having over 200 photos can make gallery hang or freak out for a bit.

Actually, where my issue was stumping me was here: When I used Astro, I could not find where the pics that were showing up in the gallery were stored. Therefore, I could not move them/hide them. Some of these things were very obscure. So, I finally realized I should SEARCH my sd card with Astro and find them, THEN move them. Trust me, some of them were buried back down several file levels in for example Beautiful Widget....or Doggcatcher. Once found, they were toasted though.

Now to figure out how to make my media player "3" stop loading thumbnails from podcast app as album art!

By a bit, how long do you think?

I added the .nomedia file to the folder (again) and deleted the thumbnails and rebooted. After opening the gallery, I still had the hanging problem.

How can something so simple have gotten soooo overlooked by Motorola or Verizon, sheesh....
