Now I know this is not the most popular nor the best working phone on the market. I am new to android and would appreciate it if someone could please help me! I want to back up the files on my phone, root my phone, create a recovery for the phone. I don't have the slightest idea where to start so please post away any help would be great.

Hi mkgruff, welcome to the forums!! I'm sure someone will come along and get this device rooted but at this point, it would seem it is a matter of waiting for that time to come. I don't personally have this device so I wouldn't be much help in getting the device rooted.

Cheers!!

Actually I was able to get this device rooted rather easily.

Now dont let the xperia comments throw you off. I was indeed able to get my device rooted using this method and best part is it only takes 30 seconds or so. Now here is hoping for a custom recovery and maybe even some roms :) . At this point though I wouldnt mind just having the recovery

aAnyone else having a problem with their LGL86C?

I'm beginning to wonder if its just me (I have read a ton of reviews on this phone, all were praising it), or if no one else wants to talk about how big of a POS this thing is!

I bought this phone to replace my iPhone in July, and in the past month; My phone will freeze at random, not load apps, the menu will be blank, apps will shut down as they please, and I get a lot of blank screens. All of this would happen, but infrequently. I tried factory data reset yesterday afternoon (8-31-13), as my phone was no longer alerting me to text messages, and it seems to have gotten worse. In addition to the above issues, I now also cant use my key board in anything other than the messenger app. My web browser shuts its self down, apps are force closing 99% of the time, but I never get an error message about it, screen is also very unresponsive. I have no idea whats going on with my phone, but I'm really getting fed up with it. I should probably also add, that the phone has never been dropped, never been in contact with water, and there are no scuffs or scratches ANYWHERE on the phone (Its been in a case and has had a zagg screen protector on it since the day I bought it!)

Anyone know if its been recalled or something? I have noticed that no one sells the phone anymore. Straight talk doesn't sell it on their website, and Wal-mart doesn't either. I just need some insight as to what in the world is going on with this glorified paper weight. Thanks!

You could of just got a bad one. it happens. all companys make products that have a few that have issues. some companys have more then others. like Samsung TV's are known to have lots of issues. but their phones are to be good. LG used to be Goldstar back in the day and they were bought out by a company called lucky. then it was lucky goldstar. then they changed the name to LG. just some useless info some people don't know about.

I have had my showtime for several months now and I love it. I have rooted every android phone I have ever had, but there is not much out there for the Showtime. Checked out alot of different options and 1 click root utilities and found SRS Root worked great. I have had no problems, and my Showtime is fully rooted, I have verified root access and installed a couple of root required apps. Thought I would share for those having a hard time. Remember Root AT YOUR OWN RISK! :) good luck :)
