if i was having the problems you guys are, i would just use the unbrick method and start fresh and then root. but that's just me.
So, I did a factory reset on my phone and it fixed the problems I was having..till I restored the nandroid I did right before factory resetting it..it again takes like three minutes to turn on and the "optimizing apps" thing came back. >_<
So.. do I have to lose everything on my phone in order to not have it take three minutes to start up, meaning do i have to factory reset then not restore the nandroid backup? (I realize there are other ways to back things up but a nandroid backups like EVERYTHING..)
Also, I did the factory reset without unrooting first.. I kinda thought it WOULD unroot me, but.. yeah.. it didn't.
Edit: Wiping the cache (including dalvik) seemed to fix everything... We'll see how long that lasts. ;-)
Question: (Just to see if I got this right) The continuous optimizing apps thing happened after flashing the G firmware. Is flashing a firmware like flashing a rom; you need to wipe the cache before/after? If so, then that's probably why.. Although I still don't know why it took so long to boot. That happened before I ever flashed anything on the phone..
Sorry for the n00b questions, I'm computer literate but still learning Android, lol.
Edit 2: Lol...so that "fixed everything" for that ONE time I restarted my phone...went back to the same issues the next time I restarted my phone. It's a little quicker now, though...I'll just go sit in the corner with my DUNCE cap 'till someone would like to enlighten me. >_<
