Facebook App - Data Consumption

I like the new Facebook app. However, it is currently consuming 12.76 MB (this is the data amount) of valuable space on my G1. Unlike many other apps, there is not a Clear Data or Clear Cache button available to recover this space. Anyone else experiencing this? I have deleted apps I seldom use and find it increasingly difficult to keep my G1 from slowing down due to free space 20 MB and lower.

I am thinking of deleting the app and reinstalling.

Or you can root, do apps2sd, and never worry about space again.

I am considering it, Shivers... I keep thinking each new version of Android will allow at least free apps to be moved to the SD card. Is this an unrealistic expectation? Is the formatting issue related to the SD card too large of a hurdle for a version upgrade to manage?

I'm not sure what Google's issue with allowing that is, but rooting is the way to go.

I've had the same problem for the longest time & uninstalled/reinstalled a couple of times to do a 'data dump' of sorts. Happened to logout just now (novel idea? Lol) and the popup message said 'Signing out will cause data to be deleted from this phone...Are you sure?' I worriedly hit 'yes' (Couldn't be any worse than uninstalling, right?).
Anyway, checked my apps size again & FB shrank from 10 MB to 2.whatever the app size is...
It took a couple of seconds for it to register; killed the app then checked again. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.
Hope that's helpful in some way.... :)
