Upload your OTA Upgrade Help

Hey guys, I remember seeing this on the Motorola Droid page but, would one of you smart guys/gals be willing to post a sticky on how to UPLOAD their OTA upgrade, should they receive it?

All I know is that you're supposed to postpone the actual installation and save it to the card... or something. IF by some chance I happen to get mine while I'm home, and IF someone else doesn't beat me to it, I'd be more than willing to upload it somewhere (megauploader?) to share. That is, of course, providing I'm actually home when it happens.

Or, maybe if it's as simple as saving it to the SD card, I could copy it and email it to one of you more tech-savvy individuals if I'm away. Or, maybe someone else would be willing to do the same. Perhaps one of you mods would be nice enough to post instructions in a sticky? After all, Murphy's law dictates that those who get the OTA first are also the least likely to know how to share, even if they want to.

I'm not a COMPLETE idiot, and could figure it out with some basic instructions (I don't want to wreck my own chances of upgrading if I fudge it) but I generally don't screw around with cellphones too much anymore. Also, please forgive me if this info is "readily available" but it seems like this information should be a sticky.

Yeah. XDA post is not helpful at all. If there arent simpler instructions, then dont expect anyone to be able to provide the link.

Well considering the community of the xda site are developers, to them its not that hard of a thing to do. I read through the thread earlier and what it looks like is it uses a program in the sdk that monitors the phones network usage and spits out the info.

That link is just what you need to do.

Make sure you've downloaded the Android SDK.
Connect your device to the computer.
Open the command prompt.
CD to the folder where you unzipped the Android SDK.
Type 'adb logcat > logcat_accept.txt' and hit enter.
Then when you get the update it will log the information to that log file.
When the device reboots the log file will stop recording, so you have to grab the log off the device and you'll see the data needed which will look like what they posted in the link.

Yeah, I understand that they know what they are talking about. But like a doctor has to dumb down his language when talking to a patient, the devs need to put it in a language that will allow regular users to help out.

Just google SDK. Do some research yourself. It is a wonderful thing.

I do enough research in things that are actually interesting to me. I dont care much about all this techy stuff with cell phones. If it was simple to help I would. But it looks like I will leave it up to someone who has or wants SDK.
I originally came here for info before I made my purchase. And I stuck around for hints and tips to optimize battery life, and get my phone working just they way I want it. Then I got caught up in the update rumors.
Researching SDK is not a wonderful thing to me. I think I would find that program to be useless.
