My Hands-On, First Impressions & FULL Event Video

Thanks for the summary. Sounds like the phone was a hit but Sprint may have stumbled on 1) when Wimax for most and 2) why Evo surcharge if Wimax not available.

Did I interpret correctly - $10 Evo charge removes both 3G and Wimax data caps? If that's the case, then that's they buried the biggest upside to all the doubters on why get an Evo now.

Little confusing there, but what other WiMax services are out there now?

I would assume that the 4G radio in the EVO is ONLY set for WiMax.

There are other Wimax providers out there - the one's I'm aware of in NYC cater to business customers. That said, I think there have to be roaming agreements to access their signal, but I don't know of Sprint, Clearwire, or anyone else who has them. I'm pretty sure the providers also resell to cable and other ISPs who don't have any other way to service business accounts in a Wimax area.

I don't know what Sprint or Clearwire think about roaming agreements, but that would be a way to speed Wimax availability.
