I have this set to "Crazy" and kill apps every 30 minutes. When I do this it says "Autokill 12:05" at the top of the screen in ATK. This is 30 minutes after I changed the settings so it makes sense but it doesnt ever update this time and therefore I dont think that it's actually runnign every 30 minutes. Does you ATK do this?

Cheers,

John

I have installed advanced task killer to kill all those unwanted apps that keep running but ho come when I kill everything, dont use the phone for any period, then go back into task killer there always seems to be between 3 and 10 apps mysteriously open again eating all my memory? this is getting frustrating especially once i've already killed them. how do they keep opening by themselves?

The Android OS is designed so that apps like ATK are not necessary. That apps that are in the background are mostly idle; look at the CPU% and you will have 0%. If the app has been idler for an extended period of time or if memory is low the CPU will end those task. I would not recommend you kill everything...especially at 30 minutes interval because there are apps that the CPU need to function; so if you end rose task they will be opened again by the CPU. When this happen, the phone is using more energy to start an app from scratch than with resuming an idle app. I found this a good read and recommend you to read it:FAQ: Why You Shouldn’t Be Using a Task Killer with Android Geek For Me – Android CDMA Sprint Hero
