How do I change the unlock password back to visual?

Hi everyone, I have just swapped from an iPhone 3G to the Desire and am getting stuck whilst familiarising myself with the phone (and making it similar to my iPhone).

I have put an unlock password on the phone but it is a pain as it requires alpha and numeric so I want to go back to using the visual password. Problem is I cannot find how to get the phone to swap back to using a visual p/w. Anyone able to help?

Whilst here is there an app out there to wake up the phone when you press any key and/or have the iPhone keypad pop up to unblock the phone?

Other than that it is an impressive bit of kit and better than the iPhone in many ways but flawed in some basic areas such as the pathetic speaker. It nearly went back when I first heard it and seems a surprising oversight given it is obviously aimed at the social end of the market.

mate been doing a wee bit of research for you and the only thing i can come up with is have you set up a credential storage password? this is found on the security page and is near the bottom and simply says "set password" hope this helps i checked the online htc desire user guide and this was all I could come up with. there is a sim card lock password but that is only 4 digits(preset is 0000). The only other thing could be did you download any security software apps from the market maybe one of these is demanding the passwordhope this helps let us know

Have you set up an active sync to an exchange server for your email using the HTC software?

If so it may be the server side security policy enforcing a password unlock on the phone.

This happened to me so I installed touchdown instead which moved the pin number from the phone lock to the touchdown app.

You could check by deleting any exchange email accounts you have.

Think I owe you a beer for your efforts (didn't work mind). Haven't setup a credentials password as I do not have anythong on the SIM yet worth protecting. Have looked at the SIM lock passwrod and that's not it either. As the name suggests it is used to lock the SIM contacts etc. incase you give the phone to someone with fixed dialing only. I'm well verse with phones and technology having been in the IT industry for 20+ years and have had a mobile since it came with a car battery to keep it going for 8 hours!
