Help Desire or Galaxy

I was hoping to get my Desire from Clove on a short visit to Scotland. Now the shipment is late to arrive.

Galaxy due to arrive on 31 May.
What to do?

Is the build quality of Samsungs really bad?
Worse than HTC?

How about upgrading?
Been on the Desire board for about a month.
Seems like most do not expect an upgrade to 2.2 very soon.

Does Samsung upgrade quicker???

Need to change my order soon if it's to be the Galaxy.

Its build quality should be fine, but its constructed from finger-magnet plastic, so definitely a step down from the Desire in that regard. I'd expect Samsung to be worse for updating the phone, the Desire will also see better dev support for updates etc via unofficial channels too.

I think of the two, as it stands right now, the Galaxy is likely the better handset overall. With updates in the mix I think the Desire probably edges it out.

I've ordered my Galaxy S from Clove, and currently own a Desire, so you could always cancel the order outright and wait and see how the Galaxy S fares in the hands of actual users (some of whom like me will be able to give direct comparisons).

i'll get galaxy s definitely but as far as support wise HTC is better than sammy.... Samsung really needs to step up on their device support system.... seriously....

Under the distance selling regulations you are allowed to try out the item you purchased for a period of 7 days.
If during that time you are not happy you can legally send it back for a full refund (inc postage) or change it for a different item.

Nope, its definitely a fingerprint magnet. Glossy plastic, and everyone who has handled it so far agrees on this. For me its a minor point, I can live with it, but for some it'll be a major annoyance.
