Help Desire won't shutdown/turn off

Hi guys i turned my phone off 8 hours ago before going to sleep just woke up to see it still in shut down mode It usually takes 5 or 10 mins in the 10 days i have had the device any ideas why this has happened or how to fix it please??

Mine takes just under 10 seconds to shut down...
Maybe worth a hard reset, have you instaled many apps, it could be a poorly coded app, failing that I would send it back for repair........

How do you do a hard reset? I have installed a few apps about 7-8 all free they are 4 star and higher rated.

Common problem. Some say unmounting the SD card before shutting down helps.

Failing that you could try killing the apps before shutting down....

My Desire Z also seemed not to want to shut down. When I selected shut down, the screen would dim and look as though it had shut down, but if I pressed the power button it would do an "HTC splash" and start tune, then go immediately to the desktop, so it clearly hadn't booted.

I found this was just because of the "fast boot" setting. I switched this off (it's in Settings->Applications) and my phone now shuts down properly.
