Still undecided....

I've been looking round these parts for a while, and Android is the future (at least for me and my next phone).

I'm in the UK so it seems it is a toss up between the Desire, Nexus one and the Galaxy S. But I have a few questions....

1. I know the Nexus one will get 2.2 before the others, but what about future updates? Will it be updated promptly until the hardware cannot handle it?

2. What are the chancces of the Galaxy S getting any decent support? I currently have a Samsung Jet, so I know how useless Samsung are, once bitten and all that ;)

3. Assuming the support form Samsung is business as usual, will the Galaxy S have enough following to be rooted quickly and some nice custom ROMs produced?

4. Do any of the home replacements compare to HTC Sense? This may be a decider between the Nexus one or the Desire.

5. Does the extra RAM in the Desire make a noticible difference? Or is it simply to help run Sense?

6. As the Desire is a better looking device (in my opinion), does it make sense to root it and put a stock Nexus one ROM on there? If so will the OTA Google updates be applied to the device?

That is all for now..... I think :D Any help is appreciated.

My opinion (answers).

1. They will probably support the Nexus One for a few years.

2. They will probably support it until they bring out their next phone.

3. Its looking to be a popular phone and so chances are there will be a lot of followers.

4. Launcher Pro Beta is quite good but not as good as HTC Sense.

5. Its designed for Sense UI but if you ever root it and stick the default UI then you might notice it.

6. There are a few devs that have made a 2.2 update (not 100% working) and so if you want updates quicker then probably worth rooting.

desire and nexus are basically the same phone one with sense one with android, depends what u prefer.

i would stay away from any smartphone not made by HTC tbh, they have a much better track record of producing excellent handsets.

personal bias id say desire cos ive got one and i love it lol, but it or the nexus are really much of a muchness.

If you want guranteed updates at least upto android 3.0 (Gingerbread) then go for the Nexus One.

If you want HTC sense and a cheaper phone and your ok with maybe not getting a update after 2.2 Froyo get the Desire.

If you want the best phone in terms of Spec and Features and again are ok with maybe not getting another update after 2.2 froyo get the Galaxy S.

Cheers guys, is there any confirmed inclusions for Gingerbread? I know Froyo has some awesome additions, especially the flash and speed increase.

I think it's between the Nexus one and Desire, I can't bring myself to support Samsung after they haven't supported me and the "smarter than a smartphone" Jet......
