Question about water damage indicator inside phone

Today was the first time I ever took the phone out of its case and removed the back cover, its been in a case 24/7 since I got it. I noticed the water damage indicator is white with a pink "checkerboard-type" pattern throughout it. Does this mean when the BB employee put the Zagg cover on with the water that he turned this pink therefore indicating water damage? If so I am going to be upset and what do I do about it? It's not like I can go back to BB now and claim they damaged it, but how can I prove I didnt expose it to water myself (I didnt, I am exceptionally careful with my phones). My phone works completely fine so no problems now but you never know in the future. Any advice?

if it is a white background with pink dots.. I think that is normal.

Water make the pink dots melt and color the white background all pink.

You are FINE!

This is correct, mine is very clearly a white background with well defined red diagonal lines. If the white part becomes pink and the lines blur, then you need to worry. Water makes the red/pink die on the water detector bleed into the white part making it pink and the lines fuzzy.

I actually asked a BB person that when i replaced my phone for light leakage/screen separation

I said "Did you know how close the water indicator is? So if you spray too much of the zagg solution on it could get under and hit that"

She responded

"There are a bunch of the indicators inside the phone that would tell them if it had been spilled on or submerged in water"

So if just 1 was flagged red it wouldnt mean too much

I think read theres one behind battery too, havent looked, and im sure there are a few deeper inside

But yes as others have said, the checkered red is indicating still OK
